Blue Dreams, that goalkeeper of the year thing is absolute bollox because most of Joe's glory came from sitting behind a solid defence - might be worth you looking at the stats for saves made from shots in % terms because that might draw your attention to the fact that Joe Hart was nothing more than a very good shot stopper when at his very best and that he's always been either average or poor in all other goal keeping areas. We all wish he'd been better but he wasn't.
He can't handle a cross and never has been able to, he can't distribute quickly (must always fuck about until the opportunity's lost), he can't distribute accurately (hopeful punts in the main and often into the stand), he can't command his defence to the degree that the defenders have long since ignored his shouts when he bothers to make them and his positioning is terrible.
You might not see beyond his good looks and golden locks but the opposition are keenly aware of his failings and they've exploited them at our cost too often!
Joe Hart has not proven himself as a top international keeper. He is perhaps the best English keeper out there but that's only because we have shite keepers in England.
And please don't think it's personal because nobody's having a pop at Joe, we all wanted him to do well and we all supported him through a bad time but he didn't get better and it cost us dearly. The fact is that our trophy cabinet is lacking silverware (think of all the thousands of loyal Blues wasting money on the trip to Wembly last year - all because he couldn't handle the one shot he had to save?). We truly gave him more time than we could afford and he's now out and deserves to stay out whereas Costel is in and deserves to stay in so how about getting behind our current keeper rather than going on endlessly about loser Joe?
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.
