We're generally a realistic bunch. Thatcher never got many defending him. The irritating thing about that is all the bullshit about 'if the ref sees the incident, then there can't be a review', well there can, and his was the first exception I can recall to that shit nugget of a rule. It's yet another ridiculous rule from the FA and they need to get rid of it. It's hardly as if refs are infallible, right?

Adebayor wasn't defended for his stamp on van pussy either. Sergio was the most recent and we all just shrugged and said, 'well that's the last we'll see if him this season'. Of course, if it was Sergio that Suarez had bitten, then who could have blamed him? If we could get near enough, we'd all have a nibble of the gorgeous little man ;-)

If he'd gotten done for the stamp, we'd have worn it. Wore it a number of times in regards to Mario, as mentioned in regards to Thatcher and Barton as well and moaned like women when Kompany got done for the non-red card against the filth. So I'd say we are pretty grounded but not completely unbiased.

I know I look at every tackle that was similar to Kompany's and wonder why the player is still on the pitch.

Also, if I remember rightly - the club suspended Thatcher internally, before the FA intervened (where as someone pointed out above that Thatcher was booked, but the FA still acted - which I didn't disagree with as it was a terrible challenge).

Suarez deserves his 10 game ban, but the FA needs to come up with a clear set of guidelines on punishments as it does appear to the public that they come up with different punishments depending on how much media interest there is in the incident.

Love the comment from Buck wishing he had a few more with Suarez's attitude, the twat could only have been funnier if he substituted attitude for appetite

After watching Bob's chat about Suarez still being player of the year this morning, we must surely be courting him.
It would make a lot of sense. Proven scorer for us, and Scouse get to fill the black hole in their finances from missing CL again. They can then whinge about "the reputation of the club" and how "no one player is bigger than LFC" etc etc, whilst trousering the loot and laughing at the dippers.

the scouse 1( or 2 ?) team have a black hole because they paid 35 mill for Big Andy, 15 mill (?) for Downing.

If anything Suarez is vfm. i expect him to be turning out for Royston Vesey next season

The 10 match ban was quite ridiculous but also quite understandable. From my point of view he got a 3 match ban and the suspended (if I can call it that) 7 match ban from Holland was brought into force.

There are far, far worse players in the league than Suarez. He's not in the same league as a complete wanker like Rio Ferdinand, for example, or most of the Stoke team - nasty pieces of work we would be better of without. The man is just an idiot. A bit of a simpleton.

Would be very funny if someone bids something low like 15 million and Suarez jumps ship. Not only would the bitters take a financial loss but then they would be at a loss of words. I can actually see someone like Juve bidding a low price for him and Suarez leaving to actually win some trophies. I don't see us bidding for him. Good player but comes with a bad rep as baggage.

Well Dzeko seems pretty much sold this summer. That leaves us with Aguero, Tevez with a year left and Giudetti, untried at this level. If Canani, Falcao and Lewandowski go elsewhere, Suarez may be all that's left. He may not be first choice due to the issues which surround him, but his workrate is up there with Aguero and Tevez and he's carrying Liverpool.

I'd certainly prefer one of the others, but I'd not risk a top 4 spot by not having him due to his previous.

You can't doubt his talent and that is why he is such an intriguing player. Very similar to Tevez. Same qualities in a lot of ways. You wouldn't him playing against you, but the question is, do you want him playing for your team with the issues he brings to the club.
One positive thing though - it will really anger the rags!

On the question of PotY, if we forget Suarez' misdemeanours, would anybody say he was the best?

Looking at the other nominee's I'd say Suarez has been by far the most consistently good player.

I'd bet my house on it. He'd fit like a glove into our style.

Will be on the cheap since Liverpool are skint and he has a ban to serve.

In all honesty I think Suarez has underperformed this season. That may sound odd to many but to try and put it in some sort of perspective, he should have had twice as many goals this season. He creates chances from nothing, does the hard work with a deft first touch and loses a couple of players in the box to create an excellent opportunity for himself and promptly misses the target or has his shot saved too often.

So really it's a back handed compliment -I'm saying this without any idea of his shots to goals ratio and therefore am leaving myself to be shot down in flames, but thats how it seems to me. I think he has the ability to be top scorer by a country mile if he can improve his finishing, though as is obvious to all he is a vile and nasty little cheat, who may never change.

As for his ban, 10 was right, how could it be any less. He got 8 for the Evra thing and has not learnt his lesson, so he couldn't have any less than 8 in my opinion for this latest 'incident', these aren't the sort of issues to brush aside.

Football throws all sorts of behaviour, Dortmund lose a player they have had since he was 8,Goetze moves to the hated foe, not a flicker of remorse, Suarez would be a brilliant player for us, can we accept he is cuckoo, which you would be playing for the dippers. He hates the rags to boot. Fuck it sign him.

I think he's second in the goal scoring league but has scored something like 38% of Liverpools goals this season. What you do see a lot is the misses when watching things like MotD but I'm sure his ratio isn't that bad, say compared to some of our strikers.
