We're generally a realistic bunch. Thatcher never got many defending him. The irritating thing about that is all the bullshit about 'if the ref sees the incident, then there can't be a review', well there can, and his was the first exception I can recall to that shit nugget of a rule. It's yet another ridiculous rule from the FA and they need to get rid of it. It's hardly as if refs are infallible, right?
Adebayor wasn't defended for his stamp on van pussy either. Sergio was the most recent and we all just shrugged and said, 'well that's the last we'll see if him this season'. Of course, if it was Sergio that Suarez had bitten, then who could have blamed him? If we could get near enough, we'd all have a nibble of the gorgeous little man ;-)
If he'd gotten done for the stamp, we'd have worn it. Wore it a number of times in regards to Mario, as mentioned in regards to Thatcher and Barton as well and moaned like women when Kompany got done for the non-red card against the filth. So I'd say we are pretty grounded but not completely unbiased.
I know I look at every tackle that was similar to Kompany's and wonder why the player is still on the pitch.
Also, if I remember rightly - the club suspended Thatcher internally, before the FA intervened (where as someone pointed out above that Thatcher was booked, but the FA still acted - which I didn't disagree with as it was a terrible challenge).
Suarez deserves his 10 game ban, but the FA needs to come up with a clear set of guidelines on punishments as it does appear to the public that they come up with different punishments depending on how much media interest there is in the incident.
