I know these are accepted as decent tackles but my point is that the ball is still going forward in front of Nasri and if the tackle hadn't have taken him out then he would still have a chance, surely?

I don't think it would be a free kick though anywhere else on the pitch though. If the player gets the ball first and then goes through the man a bit after so be it, seems to be the approach taken normally.

I see what you're saying, but I still think it was a god tackle. Football is becoming less and less of a contact sport as it is, without cracking down on good sliding tackles.
