The COA is on the numbers on the back of shirt - that´s the club´s concession it seems
My theory is that if the players wear it and we win they´ll be reproduced en masse as a souvenir issue

Maybe the numbers will carry the COA in future seasons? Worth noting that the COA was not worn for City's first FAC final (1904) nor the 1970 ECWC final. I've never managed to find out categorically why 1970 didn't include the Manchester COA but it appears that it was because of time between semi-final and final (no badge of any description was worn on City's shirts in either 1904 or 1970).

The crest on the base of the numbers is pretty tacky and shit IMO - more like an afterthought once the club realised the clamour amongst the fans to have the crest on the final shirt

Yeah you're right, didn't mean to come across like a whiny bitch there - I'm just a bit disappointed as I think it would look class stitched on the front and was hoping they'd release one.

To be honest they can wear fucking bin bags at Wembley as long as they bring the pot back!

1970 final was in Vienna, not Wembley. We only have the right to wear the city's crest in Wembley appearances, and this was granted to us after the 1904 final, I think.

Just a thought, but would the club be allowed to profit from a shirt bearing the city's crest? If not, then that may be the reason for the shirts with the club badge. Even so, there's still the distant possibility the team will walk out at Wembley wearing the Manchester coat of arms.

Good marketing that, you have to pay for the number to get the crest.

Sorry, you're first point is not true at all. City first started using the COA in 1894 when the name Manchester City was first taken. Utd also started using the COA when they became Utd in 1902. At that time I don't think anyone connected with the City Council cared about copyright/brand awareness or anything.

City first wore it in the 1926 FAC final. They didn't wear it in 1904 because most teams didn't at that point. It wasn't the norm.

City wore the COA on League shirts in 1937-38 (not all League games) and again for a while in the 1970s (and in European games during those seasons when we wore the COA on League shirts and qualified). Wembley is just a venue, it's only significance is because of what it's staged and not because reaching Wembley (more than any other venue) is an event worth wearing the COA for.

City didn't incidentally wear it at Wembley in 1999 either (but that wasn't a major final in any case, but it was a Wembley game).

The City Council give the Blues (and the Reds - people often say they shouldn't wear the COA and whether that's right or wrong the Council have previously given them permission, and if they objected then why haven't they stopped them) the rights to wear the COA and had City reached the FA Cup final in 1958, 1959, 1960 and maybe the next season or so then the Club would not have been allowed to wear the COA because the Council changed their policy. They didn't want sports clubs to wear the COA and created the eagle emblem (worn by Utd in 58 - it is not a phoenix!) instead. City used this on official publications (handbooks etc.) in the late 50s/early 60s and the eagle ultimately was the basis for City's current badge.

Your second point about copyright and so on is true and could be a factor, however the City Council seem more than happy for the Club to wear the COA on the numbers, so it's probably a much bigger issue - or simply something that is impossible to achieve for some reason.

On a history/unlucky point - City have never won the FA Cup wearing the COA on the front of a Blue shirt (1926, 1955 & 1981).

The 'v Stoke City' looks proper shit. Why would anybody want their name on our shirts?
