He was supposed to have been recovered from his head injury earlier this week.

And straight in to a full 90 with Portugal. Like the posters have said above - makes no sense.

And what’s with our players getting head injuries? Headbutting walls?

I think I remember we were supposed to be signing him somewhere back around 2015-‘16-ish but didn’t go through because he broke his leg when just coming back from injury?......Possibly when we ended up getting the Mangler instead?

Although early days, the good thing is that we now seem to have good alternative options at centre back with Dias and Ake so if Laporte is injured we can cover him more easily.

To be honest, I don't think Laporte is fantastic. Never did.
What I liked about him is that he did not need any game time to fit right in our system, from day one he looked he was since ... ever here. A super important thing about that these days.

But he had his share of brainfarts along these 2 years since he came and I can't say 100% we were that shit last year because he got injured. I think it was because Vinnie left, another sicknote, but who knew how to bring the squad near him when needed.
His absence from the french national team is a big question mark alos, even if he had that thing with Deschamps.
