Our Midfield

Postby City64 » Sun Nov 08, 2020 7:08 pm

Just when we at last seem to have sorted our defence out now our midfield looks slow and misfiring . KDB has been way off it for a good while now probably burned out , Gundogan and Rodri simply don’t work together and Bernardo can’t get a start ? Foden is doing well for his age granted , Sterling is shite more times than he is good and Torres looks totally ineffective wide although it’s early days and Mahrez not even on the bench today ? Something needs changing to make us more dynamic in midfield it just isn’t happening we have lost our edge and drive .

Foden won’t stick around I can guarantee.

And Bern isn’t given the chance to get a run of 3+ games so it’s no wonder when he plays he’s off.

I’d love to know what Rodri has on Pep that he can continually play shit but start every match.

KDB will still go off to play in the Int'l break despite being fucked though won't he? Rodri is playing as we dont have another anchor. No way was Gundo not playing today - you know Pep wants to try and pass around the scousers. The balance is way off at the moment and it is on Pep

we are way to slow now, we go forward go sidewards go back fucking rubbish, you need only 1 DM, not 2, and that's why we are slow, and we do need to pass a fucking lot quicker then we are

Would be better with Douglas Luiz in it rather than Rodri

Rodri plays better without Gundo in the team. But we seem to have too many players having too many off days.

The big thing for me is Rodri. We’ve become slower since he joined and it’s not shown any signs of getting better.

Even if he broke up play as well as Fern, which he doesn’t, he can’t keep us moving at the same tempo. Fernandinho’s passing and ability to keep us moving is so massively underrated.
Tracking back is overrated.

Our midfield is a joke compared to what it was.
When did gundo become a first choice. Look a decent player but never going to run games and never going to make enough forward passes to really hurt the opposition. Hes a play safe player.

Add to that KDB running on fumes, Fern 35 and injured.

Rodri ain't no Fern.

And Foden sitting on the bench.

However we could rest Kevin, maybe he could miss the international shiteball, that could be a start.

Rodri plays like he is at the back end if his career. KDB should be able to play a free role, however with no legs to recover behind him he drops deeper, leaving Jesus isolated as per first 30 mins. We need a mobile central MF player. I agree Pep is not
Brave enough to bin Rodri and do what Dortmund do play 17 yr olds x2 v Bayern ok they lost but it’s brave. That said Sergio fit and firing changes the game for us. Needs sorting, oh and KDB was done on 70 mins, cannot understand how Foden did not get a run as we were in top with a win required. I

As per most posts it is blindingly obvious we lack legs and mobility in central midfield. KDB is doing twice the work he used to do and is now burnt out .Foden and Bernardo give us more energy but whenever Bernardo gets minutes he is shoved out wide ???? We desperately need to get away from the Rodri sitting deep bollocks it simply nullifies us . We have desperately lost our cutting edge and the goals have dried up and above all we have become predictable and easy to play against. If pep doesn’t change this midfield system we will continue to struggle for sure .

Sterling is shit
KDB played shit and missed a penalty
Rodri is shit
Gundo is Shit
Walker is shit for conceding a penalty
Torres played shit
Jesus is shit until he scored

We've been told wait until everyone is fit, then diverted from injuries to shit officiating, that didn't work it's back to blaming Sterling. That didn't work, it must be Silva, yup we let him go too soon that's why we are shit. Well I guess we couldn't beat a shit depleted vermin side because we didn't have Aguero available (sigh)

So is it officiating, invidual players, injuries, any other shit I missed?

I expect a manager on 20m a year to oversee the above obstacles and find solutions, most importantly learn from his mistakes. I think Pep is more than capable doing it, just not sure he wants to and just going through the motions until his contract expires

Kompany against Leicester
Yaya against United and Stoke
Aguero against QPR
Silva against Hull

Random acts of brilliance when our backs are against the wall. I can’t even name one of our players at the moment I could see coming up with anything like the above.

KDB capable of all of them but otherwise I agree with your sentiment about the rest

Capable, but at the moment I can’t see even him doing it.
