Haaland won't make any difference , if the crosses don't come in .

It will as we would change he scores from deep, tap ins but offers presence boys we have none as it stands. I cannot accept we are looking for value, when as Sergio returns it’s short term, Haaland has to be on our radar, or we are heading where?

Losing Sane and Silva has us looking pedestrian. We are rebuilding and for me need a Dias type upfront, who knows his job and makes others look better.

No doubt Haaland would improve us, but its not the full answer.
You have to ask yourself how many clear cut chances did our wide men and midfielders created for Jesus last night?
The problem is in midfield and wider.
KDB tried, but is clearly sick to the tits of being relied on to do it all, we can easily see it in his frustration. Apologies to the Gundo lovers but is not just good enough and Rodri, bloody hell its a matter of utter shame that we paid north of 120m for him and Mahrez.

Not so long ago had players like David Silva and Yaya in midfield, now we have Gundo and Rodri, says it all.

Mahrez, Gundo and Rodri, all need to be sold for a start, get a few in who can play. But they are all Peps boys and he wont have the balls to do it.
Ruthless my arse.

The tactics at the moment is not to be gung ho, I think he is trying out a system where we don’t fuck up in defence at the QF stage. We have gone seven games and let one deflected goal in, that is pretty damn well impressive. Obviously he would have hoped for more goals, and I suspect some of the players are not happy with the approach, there was quite a bit of shoulder shrugging between our players tonight, I don’t think there’s universal acceptance in the dressing room. I personally think we will do very well in the CL this time round because of our new found solidity at the back, it’s absolutely vital and I see Diaz and Stones as the regulars and Laporte playing a bit part, he is fucking useless in big games. I think our current problems are a confidence issue because of the players adapting to the new approach, when they get it we will be incredibly difficult to beat, maybe (I hope I’m wrong) no trophies this year, but next season get your money on all four.

I think we hard similar last season, "putting all the eggs in the champions league basket" oh that turned out quite painful.

This squad is miles away from winning the CL, and light years away from winning all 4 next season. As things stand I wont be putting a lot of money on that.

At this moment the cups and a top 4 finish is a fantastic outcome of the season.

I agree with most of that but there's no way anyone can accuse Jesus of not giving 100% ever.

The issue now is very complicated for fans to evaluate, we are a club that have a rich benefactor but was not always that way. So fans who remember the bad times think this is still heaven compared to previous.
But now you have the younger modern day fans if you will who have been brought up on scintillating football and trophies galore. So to criticise our current performances is considered churlish by some, others believe players on 300k per week, should be doing better, as usual the truth is somewhere in between. It’s true we have underperformed but there are some caveats here, not forgiving glaring misses here, but overall this is a weird season, lack of pre season, congested fixtures blah, blah, so overall I still believe we should give the club a bit of slack and evaluate in the new year

Agree, well put. We are allowed to have a moan though, it's just not enjoyable watching us this season. Some on here we're lucky enough to see us in the 60s and witness hard fucking football played on shite pitches. I remember traveling to shit holes like Roker park, old baseball ground, brammal lane etc in the 80s and getting beat, piss wet through and slapped, but it was still enjoyable because the team gave everything. This current squad just don't seem to give a fuck, I know there are many variables but at the minute the early 2000s don't seem as depressing.

Agree! Being thrown around the kippax when we scored and ending up 30 ft from your original spot, brilliant. Some real characters in and around the ground. That promotion season 87 or 88 was something else !
