Offside rule change/guidance after City goal

Yep, they have pandered to the mob, if that goal was scored tonight it would be disallowed, hope West Brom score one similar and it is rule out -:

They should bring in a rule for when Mane or Salah or all the rag players dive for a penalty and it’s clear, they should be shot immediately. Referee carries the gun and is allowed to pass it to an opposing player to conduct the killing.

The rule is silly, but changing rules mid season is worse. At least this time we benefited from the change rather than the other way around (handball farce against spuds).

Doubt this will impact us much now, hopefully in a title decider Rags or Dippers will have one chalked off... Would be fantastic.

Surely that should be after Villa goal.
The one they scored on saturday, when had the defender left the ball the forward behind him would've been offside??

Indeed

Didn’t see or hear any outcry from Dean Smith about the validity of that goal. Strange

Didn't see any outcry from them last season when the Sheffield United ball crossed the line and Hawkeye wasn't working and VAR didn't get involved.
That stopped them getting relegated yet all Smith said was they'd had decisions go against them.

We should be clear here, they have not changed the offside law, they have issued new guidance on how to apply it.

Well, they have really, as they have put an extra bit in.

"Where a player in an offside position immediately impacts on an opponent who has deliberately played the ball, the match officials should prioritise challenging an opponent for the ball, and thus the offside offence of 'interfering with an opponent by impacting on the opponent's ability to play the ball' should be penalised."

I imagine that will have to go in the rule book, or the law will remain unclear.

What would have happened if Mings had tried to head the ball back to the goalie and Rodri intercepted and scored ?

Rodri was at no point offside.
He made no attempt to play the ball until mings Fkd up.
It's just another layer of fudge to hide behind.
How many touches can the defender have or how far away from said stupid defender do you have to be before you can think about going for the ball.

Utter fkn shite.

I'm trying to find out when the rules were amended to stop booking diving fuckers. Never seems to happen these days, especially when involving teams in red.

How is it that all mid season rule changes seem to involve City decisions. I remember them having to show rule changes week in/week out not too long ago, and always to clarify why one of our goals was/should’ve been disallowed and oppo’s allowed to stand.

As well as hawkeye and VAR, the lino had a clear view and failed to flag. So that's three systems that have failed and some people don't think there's any agenda's.

This all day long. A guideline to allow a referee to decide what is close enough - depending on which team it involves. One week it could be a meter, next week it might be five meters or more. Nebulous and very dangerous. Rules should not be changed mid season. Furthermore I hope some owner is rich enough to sue the buggers if his/her team does not get the result they could have.

They'll have to change the rules again. Gundogan came from an onside position to take the ball from the defender and score. It needs stopping right now.
