He has bags of potential but I do think a loan in the Championship for a couple of seasons would benefit him.

Yep, then we can sell him to Dortmund with a sell on clause included.

The was a nice para from the Paul Power article in the Times at the weekend. Power went to chat to Phil's Dad when other clubs were sniffing.

“There was a worry we might lose Phil Foden because everybody wanted to sign him — Liverpool, Everton, United,” Power added.

“I went round to the house, his dad was a City fan and before I left the house he said, ‘Paul, I know what you are here for. You have nothing to worry about. He will sign for City.’

“Phil Foden puts the ‘Manc’ back in Manchester City, which I feel is really important.”

“Obviously going to train with City made me a fan straight away.

“I told my dad that I wanted to be a City fan and he replied, ‘OK’, but I could see in his face that he was a bit disappointed.

"I think he saw it coming, though, once I was training with them.

When derby days came around, it was me and my mum supporting City, then my dad and my brother supporting United – arguing and debating about who was going to win.

“But since I’ve been in City’s first team and it’s been me against United, I think I’m turning him slowly into a City fan – he’s not as interested in United as he used to be!”

Thats is pretty strange isnt it? The article on Staurday was a really nice trip down memory lane with Paul Power. He reflected on his role in the cup run of 81, I was at most of the games and he scored in most of them. So it really struck a chord.

Just looked in the comments of that article and a few have pointed out that Foden's dad was a Utd fan.

Wash your fecking mouth out.
In what way would dropping down a league benefit the most exciting talent to hit English football for years?
He's currently part of the most exciting team this country has ever seen and you want him to fuck off to some backwater club and then try fight his way back in and not become disillusioned?
For fucks sake tb leave it out. ....
I wish there was a way to know you are in the good old days....before you've actually left them...

That’s mental. How can you spot talent at 4 years old!! They’re literally just chasing a ball around.

I remember when i waa coaching my lad's team when rhey were 6 and we had scouts down every sunday on St Mary's in prestwich. They picked up a lad and explained that it was solely down to the way the kid moves. They were and probably still, are not interested as much in technique as they can coach that in but they could see the movement and that is what they look for at that age. Madness, but the clubs are prepared to gamble in the hope of unearthing a gem

This should be easy beyond any form of consideration. He is one of our best players by far. And must play in all big games bar none.
If Pep doesn't see that now I just wouldn't know what to say.
For me he is one of the first names on the team sheet.
No more of this protection nonsense he is not 17.

Would be a complete disgrace if he doesn’t play him - in his right position !

But I’m expecting him to play .

Judging by this season's chumps league games, he is starting in this one -there is norhing more to be said other than who else plays with him, gundo, bernie and Kev

Exactly. Pep has stated a few times that the CL games come down to quality. Therefore, Foden will play.
