First rule of the EPL's Fit & Proper owners test should be...

1) If you're American, fuck off.

I think he'd be more interested in your missus than you, to be honest...

I did place that one on the penalty spot for you, didn't I? :-)

the Americans ! eh ?

In the mid eighties a group got together to start a new American Football league . They paid fortunes out to try and get a summer league going.

It all fell apart because no one was interested . Traditional Clubs, built up on , yes indeed history ( even though the NFL is aclosed shop) had their fans and the fans stayed loyal.

There is no prestige in winning any tournement where it is by invitation only. Even if we win the bloody thing it will feel the same to me as winning one of those
pre season tournaments against a few choice clubs, soulless

Why don't we stay in the premier league and be one of the five teams invited on merit every year. :D .
Hows that going to work anyway ?
Do they expect teams just to abandon their own league for one year  .
Long way to go yet I think. ;)

USFL is a poor reference though. The equivalent is if they'd put together league with made up teams like Manchester Blue Sails, Manchester Red Roses Madrid Facisticos, Madrid Matadors, Barcelona Catalans, London Towers, London Black Cabs, London Zions, Liverpool Pickpockets, Turin Mountaneers, Milan Lombardians and Milan Emperors while all the current team would do whatever they do now.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I was thinking earlier that maybe this is the one time that us and the rags and the dippers fans are at one, and if there could be a unity of support with the fans against this.
But the cynic in me says that even if this happens, you are looking at less than half a million people who ae the attending fans.

This is built for TV, for the millions who never go to a match or don't even want to. For this to appeal to anyone it will be the masses of blank fans overseas, who just like 'football', who claim to support a certain team, but who would struggle to name the players.
in short this is a blatant disregard to people like us, and our forfathers. It's big bucks now, settle down with the popcorn and beers!!

it is not much about start up leagues . It is about fans - they stay loyal. Nobody wants Mutton dressed up as Lamb.

Which fan will be able to go and see the team week in week out all over Europe. ?

The FA has witnessed some great happenings . Non League teams rising through the divisions and actually winning trophies ( Wigan) .

based on talent and good clubs have risen through the ranks and obviously gone the other way. Over a hundred years now.

The fans are supposed to accept some crap being served up by American owners ? So they can line their pockets ? Just look at how much the Glazers have been able to weasel out of the Rags , whilst getting the Rags to pay their loan sharks . They have no intention of getting rid imof the debt.

Is this an accurate account of what happened? I've no doubt City are between a rock and a hard place - a secure return on the Sheikh's investment but levelling up the transfer stakes. We'll probably lose Haaland if this all pans out. I see Bruno has spoken out - on behalf his agent no doubt - a bigger parasite is about to consume him and his ilk

They won’t do that. They need the money they’ll make from both semis and final.

I think we’ll be knocked out now though. We won’t be allowed to win.

What have you heard and from where?

Not sure that UEFA would do that as there must be contractual issues with their sponsors & TV rights.

Sure ban all 12/15 teams from the competition next season, but doing it now i don't think they can?

Exactly.
I don't buy into this we were forced into this nonsense though. I'm sure every other set of supporters are telling themselves the same story. I'm pretty sure our owners can't be forced into anything. Make no mistake, they know what they are doing. These rumours are merely damage control.

The choice was forced by all accounts - 'sign up - now or never' they chose to sign up.

I'm sure they realised the backlash and this rumour was "leaked" but as I said I know for a fact that City was planning this years ago in some form.

Teams Scouse2 played to win the European Cup:

77: Crusaders,Trabzonspor, QF St. Etienne, SF FC Zürich (ffs ) final Gladbach.
78: "BYE" ffs ! , Dresden , QF Benfica, Gladbach, Brugge,

See how even smaller clubs had a chance at getting the pot ?

This Fake ESL will ruin football. You will have teams losing for betting purposes, Strange results,

The Name "Champions League" is a lie for a start . since when have Spuds been a Super team ? They have a super new Stadium that needs to be paid for.

On the other hand ,if the Rags fans don't go to the games , at least they wont have to rebuild their pit.
