Ajax give the trophy to their fans

Postby blues-clues » Wed May 12, 2021 11:17 am

Ajax melted down the Dutch League trophy and made it into stars to give to season ticket holders.

Nice touch.

Very odd. Couldn't they just give everybody a star from another source? What happens next year?

There's either not many fans or very small stars :D

Apparently it made 42000 which they are giving to each season ticket holder

Assume they will simply have another trophy commissioned for next season

I am a member at Nottingham County Cricket Club and have a season ticket there. Obviously couldn't go last season and as a thank you for keeping the season ticket going I received a replica county cap like what the players wear.

A small gesture but one which was appreciated. A similar gesture to the one Ajax have made. And in this day and age of clubs seemingly getting ever distant from fans, I for one think it's a great gesture of giving something back

Talking of nice gestures, Motherwell has given a free season ticket to anyone who bought a season ticket for last season (knowing fine well there wouldn't be many games), given our PR disaster over the ESL it wouldn't cost the club that much to do the same.

30000 season tickets. Mine costs £850 but assuming the averag is a lot less, say £500, that's £15,000,000

Or the difference between us landing Haaland or him going to another club.

Nice gesture, but can't top City giving Mendy a trophy after every 9 games of being a living lump of shit.

If we want Haaland or indeed whomever our main target is/are, then £15M isnt going to stop us. It might mean we dont buy a Kayka, or a Roberts, or a new contract for Sterling.

But as a gesture, wow. Having your ticket paid for as a thank you for continued support? Does it get any better?

I've long argued we could easily afford a subsidy for season tickets as we are the least reliant of any big club on matchday income and a saving of even just £100/150 a year would make a huge difference to a lot of fans but as a club we could easily swallow it. Hell, truth be told I reckon a lot of the players and coaching staff would take a small reduction in salary to pay for it if necessary

It's a different trophy each year there, I think - a shield with the year, sponsor, etc., engraved on it. The video posted shows what it looks (or looked) like.
