Leicester's net spend in the last 5 years is 124mil. Chelsea have smashed that in one transfer window last summer alone.

They've been able to keep competitive in spite of the power spending of a number of clubs around them. The connection between the chairman, the manager, the players and the fans is tangible.

Yesterday reinvested my faith in the FA Cup.

Agree with this. If not exactly David beating Goliath, it was certainly a story of the underdog winning out and I usually have a soft spot for the underdog, particularly as City played that role for quite a long period. As far as the press hyping up the win is concerned, this is surely par for the course: if, say, City under Keegan had beaten Chelsea in an FA cup final I’m sure the plaudits would have been just as loud.

Definitely mate.

It's par for the course that Man City's achievements and wrongfully overlooked, too. Midweek was a bit of a damp squib (literally damp) but that maybe had more to do with the Muppets dropping points and therefore being mathematically unable to win the league. They did it 3 seasons ago when they lost at home to a woeful WBA side, too.

It is unreasonably unfair just how poor the coverage is when Man City win a trophy. 2 seasons ago you did a domestic treble. No one has EVER done that in England. Yet we heard more about the Dippers- the team that won the CL by barely winning away from home. They must hold a record for the most defeats en route to winning it. Bastards

Totally disagree, Leicester are higher in the league than Chelsea, I notice you use net spend, all very convenient isn’t it, what about gross spend?
They have benefited from some big money sales, Mahrez, Kante, Chilwell et al, David and Goliath it is not.
I notice you are an Arsenal fan, so if Leicester play Arsenal is that David and Goliath?[/quote]

I think Leicester are higher in the league on merit, too. Yes they've been favoured by no fans in stadia (they have a great away record, as do the Muppets going unbeaten so far, and even Arsenal with their number of wins, weirdly)

I would still consider an Arsenal "slaying" by Leicester a David and Goliath moment, yes (although nowadays it's much less a slaying to overcome Arsenal than it is a poke with a toothpick)

Correct, when the dippers got slaughtered by Barcelona 3-0 it should have been 10, they had three one on ones they fucked up, then Barca capitulate at klanfield, they thought they were through, so yeah agree about the dipper evaluation, by the way Arsenal v Leicester who is David?

Their fans literally had a banner and signs when they won the league saying “We didn’t buy the trophy” - aiming it as us.

Every time we play them they seem to think it’s their cup final. 18/19 we needed to win, they had nothing to play for and just whacked 11 behind the ball all match until Kompany scored. They’d not played that defensive all season!

Horrible club with horrible fans.

Not true. They were in with an outside chance of Europa League, needing to win both their games (us and Chelsea - who had sealed their CL place with Arsenal's draw against Brighton the night before), and Liverpool to beat Wolves in the final game. Everton, the other team above them (who had a superior goal difference), were out of contention.

Oh Leicester, definitely Leicester.

They wouldn't be able to splurge (what a horrible word) 90mil out on Perez, Xhaka and Mustafi. Signings that make your eyes water.

If they needed to win why did they whack 11 behind the ball?

They didn't.

It was a game of few chances and I can even recall Kelechi missing a golden chance to equalise at the end (a chance he should have scored from, in reality)

Comparing City under Keegan to Leicester is bizarre, Leicester, recent league champions and under a very highly rated coach, who, is known for improving young players are hardly underdogs, say again, higher in league than Chelsea

Regardless of current league positions, I expect Leicester would likely be viewed as underdogs by most people, based both on recent form but, more significantly, on their trophy count (3 League Cups and one (Premier) League Championship prior to yesterday). Ultimately it’s all about perceptions and, with the team I’ve supported for 50-odd years having achieved so much over the last few years, I’m totally relaxed with less successful clubs and their fans having their moments in the sun.

Vardy.

I remember the match thread at the time was pretty much predicting that would be their tactic.

They had 11 men behind the ball mate. Rewatch it if you want.

Couple of things I found interesting yesterday
1) The booing of the knee taking.
2) Two Leicester players displaying the Palestinian flag
For what it is worth, politics should be nowhere near sport, so this knee nonsense needs to stop, also any flag waving.

Surely the powers that be should ban political posturing from sport in any way shape or form, otherwise you will get people positioning themselves and end up with the sectarian issues like we have here in N.I.

There is a political ban - that’s why Pep wasn’t allowed his yellow ribbon. Why the fuck they allowed some daft twats to run around with a flag?!

I do wonder if they’ll get anything said to them like Pep did. FA probably scared of being called racist no doubt.

Thanks mate. It's been a long time.

I know it was said tongue in cheek, but I do tend to get along with you guys more than other fans (including the true-blue Gunner Gooners)

Absolutely agree with this.

Mohammed Sideways Elneny posted a tweet on Saturday showing his support for Palestine and an image of Israel with pro-palestinian imagery within it. I've had to explain to a number of Arsenal fans that it was wrong and divisive and they *still* can't see how it could offend Jewish supporter groups of Arsenal.

It appears that if you're a muslim footballer you've got to take this automatic, default stance of supporting Palestine. The irony is, these idiots will probably never go there and haven't been in the past.

Totally off topic IanWright, and I hope not to derail this one, but why did you step down from the MotD top tens? I thought you did a great job on there.
