That is the thing right there. Kun's replacement can be either Haaland, either Kane, but they still need to fill big shoes.
Anyone else is not a replacement, but a small fix, a patch.

If you put your pessimism behind you for a moment or two Peter and emerge from your left over comfort zone of self pity because we are now only the 2nd best team in Europe.......
We have in recent years lost a number of irreplaceable World class superstars and actually replaced them quite well, whilst also improving our performances as a team.
YAYA in his his pomp, not only ably defended our defence but was used to great effect by Mancini towards the end of the of the 2012 campaign further up the field destroying opposotion defences.....Irreplaceable until Fernandhino.
ZABBA maybe wasn't the greatest full back, but his spirit, courage and effort were also irreplaceable. And though maybe not fully replaced, Walker has done more than a half decent job getting up and down that flank.
DAVID SILVA earned the name El Mago by his sheer skill and ability to unlock defences and his vision to seen the perfect pass. There will never be another Siva, yet with a few differences in his armoury, Our Phil Foden has covered that loss more than adequately.
KOMPANY was not only our players' leader, in fact our club's leader on and off the pitch. he too was irreplaceable until wer signed Dias ahead of all the other Worldie central defenders we were linked with and had to buy but didn't. This 4th or 5th choice defender turned out to be every bit as good a defender as Vinnie as well as being a leader on the field at a very young age. The honoured footballer of the year no less.

We have seen many young superstars hit the heights then fade, so Haarland, obviously a huge talent, though untired in the Prem may be the City target but he doesn't come with any guarantees. Notr does Kane, great scorer, tried and tested in the Prem but maybe a bit injury prone and no longer in the flush of youth. Kane comes at a. over inflated price but no guarantee.

So itmay be abiy silly to demand what you want like some child passing the ice cream counter but our record of replaceing irrepaceable superstars has been pretty decent in recent years.

It is not about pessimism, John, it is about facts. Our forward position it is a huge gamble where we need to be smart.
Gabby Jesus was brought here to replace Sergio, year by year and become our number one, that was the plan, but since scoring the centurion goal, he has gone backward.

When I am saying it is about facts is looking at the current football where there are missing the strikers we used to see even 10 years ago, not saying 20. And look at Chelsea and they still did not manage to replace Drogba, even if they just won what they did.
Werner was someone who everyone wanted and ended as being one of the worst transfers they did.
Sergio when he came here was on everyone's lips and I am certain we paid the best money at that time.

Signing a Sergio's replacement is different from Yaya, Dave, Zaba, you name it. We are signing someone who can score a winner when our Plan A is not working.

They came second in a cup competition. Chelsea won a knockout competition but finished 20+ points behind us in the league.

You’re basing your opinion on a competition called “Champions” League, when you can finish 4th in your league and qualify for it.

Aren’t Villarreal considered second best team in Europe then? If not what’s the point in that comp?

That's just a competition for even bigger losers than the ones that only manage to finish fourth.

If they beat Chelsea in the Super Cup does that make Villarreal the best team in Europe? All a bit silly isn’t it

Apparently the release clause has expired for Douglas Luiz.

I read somewhere over the past couple of days that we were not interested in buying him back. Be interesting to see who we have in mind as Rodders is not the answer

I personallybelieve that over the 2010-21 full season we have probably been the best team in Europe, possibly the World.
As it's an arguable point and wasn't the main focus of my post, I didn't want it to become a distraction, so I backed of a bit.
Maybe like Pep I fucked up because my main point has clearly been ignored and become the issue.
Back to the drawing board eh

I only asked because, I agree with the above post - I think we’re currently the best team in Europe. And that’s from a downer City fan.

We are linked with Rice as a replacement for Fern.
Excellent player.
I would be very happy if this happens.

Rice Grealish and Kane would be perfect for me plus a LB.

Unfortunately you’re talking £300m there. No way we’ll be allowed to do that. Only Chelsea are allowed to do that and fly under the radar

Pep - “...with Eric I already told Koeman that he has made a spectacular signing, he’s a jewel, very intelligent. He’ll be one of the captains of the next decade.”

In the centre of the defence was Eric Garcia, who was trusted with bringing the ball out of defence. However, the intelligent running PeP would have expected to see ahead of him was missing, with City looking strangely flat and uninspired in such a massive game.

The above game was against Lyon where we got battered 3-1 and every game he has played in since he has been utter wank.

Peps stupidity personified in allowing Garcia to be anywhere near the 1st team squad during the past 12 months. He had no interest no desire, and for me shows Pep has faults, Ferna major reason we do a double no clue on his future Garcia taking the piss as he jogged about, being begged to reconsider and stay, Confusing. Garcia may well be all Pep has said, however one or both obviously think they bigger or better than City.

An odd one indeed. We were all raving about Garcia not so long ago but the way he ended up after his head was turned was quite the turnaround. Pep playing him was taking the piss imo and done solely to help barca by not having to fork out any dosh for him. Funny that Sergio ends up there as well. Almost seems like we are doing those Catalans favours

The more Pepsi keeps talking about gimpy the more I hate him. I genuinely hate the fucker.

How on earth his release clause is near £400m? I bet Pepsi advised bankrupt Catalans of his potential

Apart from playing Garcia in THAT game against Lyon (which was fuckign madness ) I will never ever understand why we played a player, this season, who was leaving for FREE...and leaving on a free to Barcelona.....it makes absolute zero sense to have played him before other City players.

It only makes sense if 1. hes an excellent player and should play by merit or 2. Hes doing his mates at Barcelona a huge favor by giving 'their player' as much experience as he can before he fucks off.

The only sensible answer to the above is B.!!

Disgraceful.
