Look, I understand you are pissed off about the result but ahould still appreciate what 'Mancini has done.

Jeezes, I watched the game again. I mean credit to Southgate for taking you that far and I was genuinely hoping you'd win it (I mean I ALWAYS want teams with City players to go out early but when in final then go for it). But look at the mess that England "huddle" was before the shootout. I said it during the game to missus half-joking that looks like Southgate is asking who wants to take one. Then when I watched it again I realised he was ACTUALLY doing it. Like in some fucking grassroots tournament. Henderson trying to tell everyone to calm down and it was all a big mess. Then you look at Italy group. All gathered together and NO ONE but Mancini was talking. All calm and collected. They had prepares for it and knew what they were doing. As Mancini's teams always do.

Sure he had so he had some bad days but he was excellent manager for us and always was one of the best managers in the world. There's no need to put any negative spin on that.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I haven't rewatched it, but I am sure I even saw Luke Shaw lifting his shirt up to complain about a sore side as an excuse to not take one.

He is a fantastic manager.
The players got him the sack, and the club didn't back him. The club didn't back him against the players revolt and didn't back him in the market. The took the easy option.

Love to see what he would do with the squad we have now, which in my view is better than the one he had.

I loved him when he was here, loved what he did to Fergie on the touchline in the home win in the title winning season. 13th May 2012 was the best day of my life. Can't see anything ever topping it but when i watch it back now which i have done many times he'd lost the plot in the 2nd half swearing at the players constantly.
The next season was a shocker and i remember driving to Wembley for the Wigan game hearing on the radio that he'd gone no matter what the result and seeing the most diabolical performance.
You have to ask yourself why the players got him the sack, why the club didn't back him, why had he lost the dressing room although i reckon a good part of that WAS the QPR game with his antics.
His signings were mostly great and left us with a spine of the team for years to come. I'm not sure that todays team is that much better. He had FOUR strikers, Serg, Tevez, Mario and Edin. Peak Zabba, Komps at his best, Yaya, Merlin, Gaz Baz, NDJ. He had a fantastic squad and he lost them.

Let’s not act like he lost the whole dressing room. It was a group of players that went behind his back and when you look at the ones mentioned it’s the ones that left the club soon after Mancini did.

The ones I heard mentioned were De Jong who did leave soon after but also Hart and Kompany.
Hart fell out with Pellers as well but Kompany was the main one for me.

I’ve never heard Kompany. I’ve just searched and there’s only Kompany saying good things about Mancini. However Mancini was pissed off that Kompany was injured and went and played for Belgium - and rightly so. Dzeko was another one I heard.

i heard the Kompany one from Shay Given at a charity event i was at and he'd had a few beers and there was a few of us trying to get as much info as we could about City.
To be fair you're probably right that the playing for Belgium when he'd missed the previous games for us is what caused a barney between them two but Given said Mancini fell out with everybody.

Ah thanks, good info. I think managing the Italian national team, where everyone will have the same Italian temperament and understanding, probably suits him.

If it was the players and not the board he fell out with, let's get the fucker back here.

Even though it’s hard to take, you’ve got to give it to Mancini for what he’s done for Italy. Greatest day in my football life, that feeling now moves over to another country that’s had huge problems.

I think it was both, which couldn’t be reconciled. He was left out to dry which meant that the new hierarchy needed him out, just the way it is.

However, you’re saying that you want Pep moved on Mancini brought back in place. Not sure I’d go with that.

He will be doing the world cup next year and presumably if nothing goes badly wrong he will want to defend his European crown, which will take us to 2024. Pep will be gone by 2023 and whoever replaces him probably will have got us relegated.

That wont be happening. And to be honest as much as I admire him as a manager I just wouldn't want it.
Never go back, as they say.

Is he the most successful manager we have had? No
Did we play our best football under him? No, IMO. We scored more under both Pellers and Pep

But. He was the first. Under him we learned how to win trophies. We went to the swamp and destroyed them and by default old Baconchops. Their superiority ended that day. We won the FA cup. We won the league. He beat Bacon at his own mindgames. He laid the foundations for the next 15/20+ years.

So I am very much in the camp that he is a City legend and worthy of fullsome praise. He wasnt perfect, we know that. But for the short spell he was here he tore it up and put us well and truly on the map.

As an aside, the dippers revere Shankly. Paisley was by far the more successful manager but it was Shankly who laid the foundations for others to follow. Bobby Manc did that for us

He's a legend. I loved him and still love him. But I don't think it'd be a good idea bringing him back.

I think most of the stories of him are true. He was a relentless winner, pedant and perfectionist, aka a fucking dick. That's alright if you spend a week or two a year with him as a player for the national team. But it is probably unbearable for most players in a club team for more than a seasons or two.
