Not a lot to say apart from we are not going to get away with playing no striker again.

28yr old with dodgy ankles or 21yr old with the world at his feet.

The agent is a wanker , so who blinks first , RAGS will pay anything to get him.

I feel for Ake as I thought he and Dias were the only players who had a decent game. Everyone else was abysmal.

This is the downside of having a squad heavily involved in the Euros.

Lots of effort required on the training pitch this coming week.

It’s a trophy mate - everyone should be fucked off if we don’t win it .

I don’t get some fans mentality sometimes .

I'm in this camp. It's a match at Wembley with a trophy to be lifted by the winning captain. I know its essentially a pre season game but I want us to win every game.

I agree that we should be wanting to win everything but when you see those line-ups, well, you have to adjust your expectations.

Mine were set early as Pep had already mentioned playing the EDS.

Except Ian.
I am happy for the fella. Super content he made it.

I wasn’t happy but you can’t begrudge him the goal. Didn’t he miss a sitter not to long ago where we were all singing his praises.

That needs to be sorted.

I was thinking along the same lines
, that’s twice in a row we have had to watch the oppo lift the trophy , I’m in Carl’s camp it’s not a friendly it’s silverware ,

Fuck me, Fernandinho played next to Gundo and we still lost due to an individual error. I didn't think this was possible

You know what, Fern looked way off. And that’s not like him at all. I’m hoping it’s pre-season rust.

He’s looked way off for a while but has that natural instinct to be where’s needed. IMO, He’s been kept on for what he does in the dressing room, just like we did with Vinnie, as all the real leaders have moved on.

I'm with Carl. Seriously pissed off about losing it. It's a trophy.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The Refs and VAR are a major concern this season .

Despite Rodri and Mendy putting the pressure on Ake. He was fouled and Tierney waved play on . Then when nothing came of it called for a penalty, very disturbing. The speed of the VAR refs decision too. Shocking refereeing.

Need to get a goal early at the spuds.

I am in the boat where I think we are lacking the hunger and our manager lost the trust of the squad after the final fiasco of last season and I don't know how he can win them back. Also, I expect some cheating early on this season and some very favorable decisions going for the rags/scouse to send them top.

On the plus side is Leicester played their best team and won from a dodgy decision.

I am a little concerned about this as well. Plus with Bernie wanting to leave AND 3 or 4 others as well. Have we ever started a season where it was made public (by our manager) that so many wanted out.

Yeah that’s one thing that annoyed me. Rodri passed to Ake when there were better options - Fern was open. Rodri is a very poor player. I really don’t know what he brings to the team.

Like you say, the ref was desperate to give that penalty, even after playing on.

Complete joke of a penalty Nacho clearly fouled Ake and then went for a squealy dive. Nailed on for cartel though - not a single media outlet is calling it out

Annoying to lose with a very late pen but we were 3 minutes away from a penalty shoot out that I bet nobody really felt over confident about anyway.

For me it's a trophy the same way the Thomas Cook trophy was. People on here going mad that it's a trophy are the same people who call the Carabao Mickey Mouse. We've said that Pep has won 8 trophies in 5 years so obviously nobody has counted the Community Shields that we've won against Chelsea and Liverpool. It's great to be in it as it means we've won something good the year before but that's as far as it goes Arsenal won last seasons, does anyone remember that or do their fans think that made it a good season

It all starts next weekend. We'll have a lot more players available hopefully.

I’m genuinely interested, which posters call the Carabao Mickey Mouse?? I love going down to Wembley every year to watch us win it. You should call out the posters that have said that because anyone that doesn’t want to watch City lift a trophy isn’t a fan.

I wanted us to win it.

But we had Ederson, Walker, Stones, Zinchenko, Sterling, KDB, Jesus and Foden all unavailable. Plus many of those who did start the match have only recently started training.

If giving some of our players this weekend off means they are in better shape for the upcoming season then that’s the priority. Asking players who got to the latter stages of the Euros or Copa America to come back early just to try and win the Community Shield could hurt us further along in the season.

Our target this season is to win the league and the CL, retain our league cup and try to add the FA Cup. The Community Shield is nice to have, but the reality is no one counts it in their trophy haul.
