Pep is leaving when his contract ends

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Pissed me off this. 2 seasons of uncertainty now. No one were interested in knows who the manager will be. 2 years of trying to motivate players who know you’re leaving will become more and more difficult.

Yes we have time to plan and replace but I really dont see why he needs to give 2 years notice.

It smacks to me of toys out of the pram because he missed out on Messi and Kane.

He’s been amazing in general but personally I’m happy the end is established.

This was always the plans. He was never going to stay after his current contract. Hes given us more than enough. This isnt even a news story.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What made you think this was always the plan? He’s extended twice before and never mentioned this would be the last time.

Master piece of mistiming as well as the media frenzy, the motivation factor and ability to attract the best players could be in jeopardy, not happy at all with this news.

From what I’ve seen elsewhere, Pep’s words are:

"My next step will be a National Team if I get the chance. And after seven years in this team, I don't know if I'll stay here longer. I think I'll take a bit of a break”

A bit less definitive than the initial quote perhaps. Nonetheless, not great timing.

Can only mean that all is not well behind the scenes at City. Politics no doubt. I wonder who is fighting who and who the winner is? Clearly it is not Pep.

Poorly timed and poorly worded which will be twisted out of its context.

There is simply no need to discuss when he will leave or indeed make his plans known until it happens.

If there is an element of truth in this it’s unlikely he would see the two years out

the club are walking away from the likes of me so quickly it's frightening...the Grealish/Kane mess and now the manager spits his dummy out

Even if it was always the plan, there was no need for him to reveal it now.

Playing for Pep is big incentive for players to join us. Now anyone we try to sign in the next will immediately want to know who our next manager will be.

If we have a shit season then we should 100% say goodbye to him at the end of this one.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Regardless of performance we should say goodbye asap.
It was a disaster for Ferguson, Pep will be no exception. Club is now stuck in limbo until he leaves.
In any walk of life, if the boss is leaving, standards drop. Also, people will want to know who the new boss is before joining.

The only logical reason for Pep to discuss this now is internal politics. There has to be some massive power struggle going on.

7 years is a long time at any club. Let’s enjoy it the club is set up for long term development. Any comparisons with the Scum is in my opinion ridiculous. We are on the up they were sliding for years on and off the pitch. Oh and the scousers are in the same boat, I know who I back.

It’s a fair comment though mate. We’re terrible at planning transfers, there’s a myth we’re amazing at planning, so what makes people think we’ll be better with the manager?

Best thing for us is Vinny smashes these next two years, or finishes this season and comes to spend the next season shadowing Pep ready to take over. We need whoever is going to take over in before Pep leave imo.

Agree that I'd like to see his successor in place alongside him before he goes but it is not going to happen. There is no way we would appoint Vinny so soon. Expect a top name for 2-3 year contract.
The current farcical situation with no left back and striker is worrying when looking at succession planning for a manager and I do wonder where the spafia fit in on this as well

I hope Vinny doesn’t get the job. Imagine if he does badly and the crowd starts to turn against him. Unthinkable. It’s a huge job in world football and Khaldoun can attract a top manager.

Pep did the double in his last season at Bayern. The scum were let off in Fergusons last season by us City have the blueprint for success the scum had help from how many of Fergies mates, Moyes Fat Sam reds Gill was a crook Peps a Pro Mase his staff have come and gone he carries on. Maybe all the Spanish will leave.
They may just all think as most world leading businesses do it’s time for new ideas. I don’t see any candidate wanting a hold hands period were not Arsenal. In fact I cannot see that many choices can you, Vinny Arteta Patrick all doing nothing to suggest they could step up. Look at the scum with Oli.
