There's been 3 iconic players that have apparently wanted to join us: Messi, Kane and Ronaldo.

We have failed to anticipate the predictable reaction from other clubs. We don't seem to have had back up plans in place. We seem incredibly naive.

Little Erling for total condemnation perhaps?

I don’t believe Messi and Ronaldo’wanted’ to join us. Messi used us to increase his standing and remove the president of his club. Ronaldo simply wanted out of Juventus and would go where the money was and when our supposed offer of 200k a week wasn’t enough he went to the rags who would pay him.

Kane clearly wanted to come but wouldn’t push the issue. Didn’t put in a transfer request. Didn’t create any waves. Didn’t bad mouth his club. Which is admirable as he is a Spurs boy when all is said and done. But it left him and thus us, in no mans land in terms of dealing with Levy.

In this day and age the super players have more power than is perhaps good for them or indeed their clubs. Is it coincidence that the clubs have have had these players and paid them handsomely for a number of years are now in terrible financial shape?

It's hard to know the truth and whether Messi and Ronaldo really wanted to join us? IMO they both wanted the best opportunity of winning the CL and other trophies while getting the most money possible trying to achieve it.

We put all our eggs into the Kane basket and the football world was shocked we didn't try to bid for Messi, this time.

As regards Ronaldo it's possible we were a stalking horse looking for a better offer from United? However I think it's more likely we didn't seem keen and he decided he would go where he would get more money and be more welcome?

Chelsea close deals very clinically we seem to be generally an 'easy touch' for most other clubs, buying high and selling low.

Messi played us twice, then stayed with Barca both times. We did not go back for a third time this Summer (as we were after Kane).
Ronaldo was an opportunity that we had to look at. Rags panicked and stepped in with a wad of cash. Given the Glazers dodgy position with their fans on top of the SL fiasco they sanctioned the deal to avoid the backlash. Wise move by them.
Kane efforts were a fail by us. We thought we could get him, we did not, so a failure.

Re buying high and selling low. I don't agree with that.

IMO we don't buy high. Even this Summer we did not stump up for Kane, Ronaldo or Mendes. Same with Sanchez, etc...
Overall we make a lot of money from our transfer dealings.
Who are the players we bought high and sold low? Out of the number of players we bought high, what % of those deals did we lose money on i.e. sell low?
