Although I'm not a fan of gollum, I have to say he was treated appallingly by the rags. From a blue perspective however, him getting sacked was the best thing that could have happened. Had he stayed they'd be serious contenders by now.

Yep, I agree. He made some silly mistakes - buying Felleni and taking Phil Neville with him. But you can see why he did that. He was totally set up for Fergie who acted as if he was his pal, but left him with a very very ageing squad that would die off within 1-2 years. Ferguson did nothing to help Moyes, he only looked at what he needed to win for his last season in management.

Shankly at the dippers when he left was still hanging around the training ground until the next guy, Paisley, basically said "you resigned. You aren't part of this any more. Dont come back". May have been harsh and it probably contributed to Shanklys early death as a huge part of his life was gone, but thats football.

I’ve said as much to my father in law. Just like most rags though, he’s thick as fuck so can’t see it for himself. It’s the equivalent of Pep moving upstairs when he stops being our manager and the new manager trying to manage the team with Pep still around the place chatting to players.
