I am pretty tech savvie but I don't get this so I'm parking it up along side crypto-fookin currency and those non fungible token shit things.
Crypto shite makes no sense as it isn't regulated and you can lose all your money in a blink if an eye.
And those nft things are just pure bollocks. That said a lad at work quit in September to get into it. They raised $2.5m in 3 hours on launch!!! A lot of that gets ring fenced for the first year. To achieve this he and his brother are in bed with a bunch of Chinese who make it happen.
Anyone I've ever met who have had business dealings with the Chinese have all said the same thing. Its not a case of if them fucking you over BUT WHEN.
A virtual stadium if we are the only ones doing it surely the EPL will block it to protect their TV rights? Or I have read this wrong?

Maybe the big players in all of this just want society broken up as much as they can.
Hants, worries me muchly when someone who works in IT doesn't understand why this shit is developed.

It’s essentially, you can put on a virtual reality headset and walk around and go in a virtual Etihad and watch the match via your headset from home or wherever you are but it’s like you’re in the stadium.
Kids will love it. My generation or older will probably hate it.

Probably not unlike the film Strange Days. In 10 -15 years it will probably be the way 30-40% of under 25s watch football.
Not for me

Ha ha Jim Lad, I work in Pro AV which for the last 20 years has been has slowly but surely merging with IT, which is more hardware related on my part.
I have been trained on a lot IP/IT aspects and we do some pretty cool stuff in terms of user experience.
This shit, I cannot see the benefit of (those three I mentioned).

My lad got a VR set for his PlayStation at Christmas and in the 20 or so minutes that I used it, I started to wonder about watching football matches on it. Granted they were not real matches I was imagining but watching people play FIFA, but I was that impressed with the VR tech that I thought it could be a thing. Now thinking about it, why not watch the virtual representation of a real person run around a pitch letting me sit in the stand without leaving home? I'm not a fan of the wider implications and I don't think the pies would be the same but I bet even with the microphone you could contribute to the chanting and even get booted out for being a racist. Enough people pay to watch on TV where they never get a say in the angle or where their viewpoint is from. If this can be done well, I think it could be huge.

To me it sounds an expected progression from the original TV to VR viewing make possible by advances in the technology?
When TV arrived I am sure people marvelled that you could see a game without being at it (but it was not as good as the real thing). With VR the technology is so advanced that you think you are at the real event. A super dooper TV of sorts?
Like comparing the original phones with mobiles.
Re China. The most corrupt country in the world. Nothing moves (politics, business, finance....) without prior approval from the authorities and they control it all the way down to the bottom rung. Like a Mafia family at a superpower level. Many Chinese people have told me this. I like Chinese people, good for a laugh and a drink and will help you out if they can.

For people like my dad who is in his 70s and since having a heart attack last year has now started to rely on a walking stick, this would be great when it gets to the point he can’t physically go to the Etihad and has to give up his season ticket. He could still enjoy watching the match in a similar environment from home.
Same for people who are overseas but want that Etihad feel still.
I think it’s a harmless but useful idea.
