Mahrez and Grealish can come on when everyone has burnt themselves out.

Plus Grealish should start in Madrid. They went deranged when he came on, he's sure to get a couple sent off

How many chances will Sterling and Jesus miss today ?

To be fair to the Madrid players, we also used to give the pretty boy with long hair and hair band a good kicking when I was playing. And anyone with coloured football shoes, of course.

Think Gabi selected since he can't play in the next match and why Pep reacted so strongly when he got that yellow against Atleti.

When's the last time Jesus scored?
Mahrez our top scorer on the bench. That's hard on him.
Looks like the team is picked for workrate over flair.

Annoys me. Mahrez is class. He keeps the ball and we need that against these.

I doubt the primary reason he was brought in today was for his goal threat.

I would think it is to suffocate the full back when they attack and create space for the other forwards when we attack.

Just a wild guess mind

Hopefully this will be the way they line up. Sterling is far better on the right, Foden isn't scared of Alexander-Arnold and Jesus can run off the two statues in the middle for them.

Honestly mate, if we want to suffocate their fullback then Grealish or Mahrez are a miles better option.

Yeah the season is not just THIS game and we have arguably a more important game afterwards that Mahrez goal scoring ability may be more necessary if it goes extra time or to pens.

No way is it that Pep doesn't trust Mahrez in this type of intensity level game as the reason he's out as I just heard someone say

If we didn't have a huge CL match, again, I think Jesus far less likely to be starting.

Pep may also be trying to make sure he throw soff Klopp and Liverpool's preparation and, yes, we know Gabi will work extremely hard and therefore offers that much more protection in a game we'd be fine to leave with a draw.

He has to also keep players fit for the rest of the season and for the next game.

Mahrez more likely to be needed to score in the next game if it goes extra time or pens, than Gabi who we know cannot even get on the pitch in Madrid.

How the fuck is Carragher allowed inside our stadium on a day like today. He’s walking across the pitch, dick swinging and we just allow this? Imagine Liam Gallagher at Anfield doing comms for City TV just walking across their pitch. Disgusting.

Jesus has an amazing workrate mase, probably the best of our forwards (foden arguably up there too).

I think that's the reason. Tire the full back out and if we're still looking for a goal later, bring mahrez on to run at their tired legs

I think it's more interesting that we are going to play with a striker.
It would be odd to play Jesus on the right wing, Foden as a false nine and Sterling on the left.

Can't imagine everyone playing out of position.

Mahrez is obviously better, but it is about work rate, especially first half. Grealish and Mahrez are probably our least effective at tracking back and getting stuck in.
