Play Egan-Riley on Sunday?

Postby PeterParker » Thu May 12, 2022 6:52 am

With our injury situation, play him or drop Rodri as a CB, force the others and risk injuries or give the boy a chance in a really difficult game?

Discuss.

Mbete (Frank Spencer?) is a centre half. He’d be a better bet, I feel.

Maybe Laporte will be ok. Maybe Rodri and Ake.

Should be interesting whatever combination plays.

Did Rodri get a bit of a knock, or was I dreaming that? He thought he should've played old Egon Ronay last night but when you watch Fern's class on the ball you think, well maybe not.

Although I never want to give kids games for charity, unlike many on here, I do think that if needed they should be good enough and ready to play. As we effectively need 3 points from 2 games maybe it should be a yes?

I was thinking of Mbete also but saw that he played Egan as a CB in those minutes vs Newcastle, so most likely, if he will risk it, it will be with him?

Egan-Riley is a RB similar to Walker. I wouldn’t put him anywhere near CB.

Any reason why Harwood-Bellis couldn’t play? Stoke’s season is finished now, has he returned to the club?

You can’t register players after the transfer deadline, mate.

It'll be interesting to see how West Ham play this one - if they win both of they're remaining fixtures, they're (pretty much) guaranteed Europa League next year. However, they just need 1 point to (again, almost certainly) guarantee Conference League.

The question is, do they go hell-for-leather in both games, or play it easy against us and clinch European football for next season against Brighton? A win for us against West Ham and a win for Wolves vs. bottom-of-the-table Norwich means that they would have something to play for against Liverpool, with them on 53 points and West Ham on 55 going into the final game.

He’s under 21 so doesn’t need to be registered, or as far as I’m aware that’s how it works. Anyone know?

EDIT: Talking about Hardwood-Bellis.

Whoever it is needs to a strong lad to deal with Antonio. So Harwood-Bellis or Mbete.

Antonio has a measly 9 goals all season (he’s never scored over 10 Prem goals a season) but I worry about him throwing his weight around and the ref allowing it. We need someone to boot him straight away and Rodri isn’t your man for that.

Cross fingers and hope Laporte’s fit to play alongside Ake. Not ideal to have two left footers but we are where we are. Otherwise Rodri. What if a youngster comes in and stuffs up losing us the League title? He might never get over it. It’s too much pressure. Rodri will play CB if it comes to it.

What about if a kid comes in and smashes it and wins us the title? Could go on to have a great career with us or make us a lot of money.

Because we’re City fans we just focus on the negative, it’s natural.

Think Ake I'd fine, it's who goes alongside him is Laporte and Fern don't make it. I wouldn't have Rodri there personally- I'd prefer a youngster

Rodri would get bullied against Antonio in my opinion. We need a proper CB to combat an old school striker like Antonio.

In all honesty it wouldn’t surprise me to see Stones play. He seems to be “out for a long period” and then just turn up. But hopefully Laporte is fit and it’s just a knock.

I don't think so. I wasn't sure myself, but had a quick Google, and Watford's loan returnees can't play: https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport ... er-league/

Mattie Pollock is the same age as Harwood-Bellis (a few months older, but born in the same age bracket for U21 cut-offs).

Im hoping Laporte recovers from what booked an impact injury so it will be Ake and Laporte. Ake i don't think is full fit and that is why he has not been risked. Pep will play Rodders he has already alluded to that if one or other is injured and that is a concern against Antinio for me. That all said, if we rock up in the same mood as last night the defence will not be a concern

He was registered for Stoke and therefore can’t be registered for another team.
