It escapes the haters' notice that (apart from scoring his own) Raz was directly responsible for creating all the other goals last night. It takes a sustained repression of the intellect to overlook his pivotal role in the our best attacking combinations.
Blinkered self-fulfilling prophecies 'r us

OK lets take my blinkers off……First goal: not involved at all, he did make himself available for a square pass, but thank the lord Kev scored himself.
Second goal: A gorgeous through ball by Kev, Sterling completely missed the ball which took their goalie by surprise and he parried into Kev’s path, so Sterling basically fucked up and Kev mopped up
Third goal: I suppose you could call this an assist, but again it was Kev who took the ball after Sterling was fouled trying to unsuccessfully turn the defender….I’ll give you that one simply because he was directly involved but knew nothing about the “assist”
Fourth goal: Well, it was a poor pass from Foden which was behind sterling but the ball fell into Kev’s path with no assistance from Sterling
Fifth goal: Literally on a plate for him after his previous misses
Their goal: Didn’t see him tracking back for that one, Cancelo was doing his usual lolloping too.

So my unblinkered observations are that just because he’s in the vicinity of the goalscorer does not render him “directly responsible for creating all the other goals”, he was basically fucking up but we had our genius Kev to clean up for him on the night. As I said earlier, he was brilliant for us a couple of seasons ago, but whatever he had then has gone and as far as I’m concerned, and I have no axe to grind with him, he seems like a nice lad, on the pitch he hasn’t had a scintillating game for the last two seasons. Call me a wanker or blinkered or an abuser, I give not one fuck……..it’s just my opinion and I’m expressing it which is the whole point of the thread.

Just watched MOTD, not withstanding the goals, the movement of the players at pace and interchange of passes at such speed is unbelievable, not seen the like of it in all my years of watching football. If there is a criticism it is the fluffing of easy chances, but five away from home, to complain would be churlish surely.
I bet it was gut wrenching for dippers to watch that display after they have been scratching odd goal wins

Not so much blinkered as blindfolded - Raz is part of the forward trio that creates space for each other through their interplay - post match on MOTD and SKY Kev explained and gave due credit for their respective roles in very simple terms. I agree Raz' part in the first goal was just occupying a wide defender but his contribution to the rest was regulative - no Raz - no second, third, fourth or fifth. The comments digging out "lolloping" Cancelo or accusing Raz of failing to track back with Dendoncker for their goal (de Bruyne had that job btw) are also patently unfair in terms of their overall vital performances in the win. Really poor appreciation of our fantastic team.

Dunno how anyone can defend Raz any longer. Like so many have said he’s turned to shit in terms of confidence and ability to take someone on or create/finish when in a tight spot. He’s ok creating, passing under no pressure (though he can’t finish with time) but he’s really standing out as wasteful.

Possibly the worst good player in the league.

I remember him trying to run at VVD, He backed him up into the box and then shit himself and just stood there while virgin took the ball.

He done it again last night, had the man backed up in the box then he froze and just kicked the ball through his legs to no one.

A key performer in an outstanding win last night and you remember that and a time he didn't nutmeg VVD - says it all.

I remember him vividly starting in champions League final and doing nothing. Fair enough whole team didn't click that night and not playing a DM might have cost us, but when it mattered, some might say starting him ruined our chances when throughout the competition we did well without him. I don't think Pep will ever trust him in the big games after that. He was great playing along Sane, raw speed terrorised defences and created space. It's just not working out now, I don't understand your stubborness, I wish the lad well but it's time both parties moved on.

For the first goal he wasn't occupying anyone he was on his own in acres of space, I’ve presented evidence that he didn't contribute anything positive to our overall fantastic performance. He continually gave the ball away due to his lack of ball control. Just because he has pace, and there’s no denying that, doesn’t necessarily mean that he contributes positively. Yes, it was Kev’s job to track back with Dendonker, but if Sterling was supposed to be giving vital cover to Cancelo neither of them were to be seen to prevent the cross from their left, our right from the player who’s name escapes me…….neither of them were there with wide cover to stop their goal. Im not for one second saying our performance was anything other than brilliant, it was. But a couple of individuals, under scrutiny, came up short in overall quality. If you think they played a vital role in our victory then crack on you’re entitled to your opinion and I respect it, but I respectfully disagree.

I think trying to integrate him is what cost us the final last year. Even today I can't understand why Pepito tried that.
I am on the side that thinks he was always overrated, even with his scoring record, something that no one will ever take away from him, but his record vs the rags, scouse (before last year) and in general in key moments tell the story.

I think he is a player that can't play good under pressure and it's excellent to have when you are three up. Look how he scored vs Newcastle, how the kicked that ball. Flawless. Then remember his free kick vs Palace last year, a beauty and then look at his other free kicks that were comedy.

I think Arsenal will be a great move for him. Under Arteta he can end his career

We all want him to pull through and regain his best form. But it’s clear he’s struggling to really get to his best.

It’s got to the point where you just roll your eyes and almost laugh.

If it makes anyone feel better I’m more worried about how many time our play breaks down with cancelo.
