I think I agree with you - but I also thought Palace for Vieira was a silly move as they also lost a load of players and looked doomed for relegation - and he proved everyone wrong with a very successful season.

it may see it as low risk - if they've lost 14 players and everyone expects them to struggle he can't lose really as if he struggles it what everyone expected, but if he does well his stock will rise!

I'm really surprised he left Anderlecht: it was supposed to be a long-term 'stabilizing' project, and he's lasted 3 seasons there (one of which was curtailed by COVID). He's improved the club immensely (statistically speaking, at least), so it seems as if he sees it as a massive step up (doubtful), or that Anderlecht isn't turning out to be the project that was sold to him. Or, alternatively, it's for personal reasons. I can't see Burnley forking out life-changing amounts (from Kompany's perspective) for him to manage them, due to its reported financial predicament.

Doesn’t seem Like a wise move. He could have gone in higher I reckon.

Might be a chance for us to loan a couple of youthies who should be well looked after.
