That England team is turd. The players are massively overrated or too young yet. The manager obviously doesn’t help, but anyone that thinks that squad is “generational” is silly. The Shearer, Scholes, Lampard, Terry, Rio etc team would piss all over this one.

The team isn't turd but the manager and his system is. If he got sacked tomorrow he'd get a Championship job at best. He got Boro relegated, became a yes man for the FA and had the Under 21s and fell lucky with Allardyce going the way he did.
A manager that likes playing with flair could have a field day with this squad, there's English managers that play attractive football such as Howe and Potter.

Doesn’t matter how much flair you have, you’ve got Maguire and Pickford as starters.

Edit: completely agree on Southgate though. You’re spot on.

I think Baghead could need a bit of extra security - Julius might be an option

really surprised how poor the setup is ... even knowing that Southgate is inept.

as a yank, I hope he stays on for Qatar and does not change systems. He is actively working against these players strengths, it's wild.

A good coach assesses the available talent and puts out a team that exploits the strongest aspects of that talent.
Southgate has assessed the talent and puts out a team that ignores the strongest aspects of the available talent.

England are blessed with creative attacking talent.
Southgate puts out teams that ignores the above and concentrates on where England is weakest - defence.

England are wasting golden opportunities to win the big tournaments as long as they have Southgate in charge.

Only thing Southgate got right was taking Bowen, Gallagher and Bellingham off.

Its all part of a masterplan to completely lower all expectations ahead of the world cup and take the pressure off the players

Let's be honest our England team flatter to deceive. Southgate was lucky to get the job his past experience was not a good cv. He says the right thing to the right people.ucky progress in World Cup and Euros is keeping him there. He is fucking clueless on how to set up this team and his dogmatic selection in turds like Maguire just show his ineptitude. Our media will play up our chances and then celebrate when we fail. Southgate sounds like he is starting to believe in the shit he is peddling. Not interested in it or the up coming farce that will be Qatar

You look at your opponents and set a team against what you want, or need to achieve. Some goals are set, some are your choice beyond that. Southgate has took this onboard but only sets himself to the minimum standards.

He’s done extremely well but we are now in a position, like City, where teams put 10 behind the ball and hit us on the break. Pep tests and adjusts, Southgate hasn’t got that operational knowledge.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".
