Pep is having to reduce control of everything to give us on the pitch momentum, quality players doing what they do in a flash of magic. Like Foden and the curling away ball to Erling. That would have had Pep head butting a wall in the past. If we are in the settling in phase, it’s going to be magic.

Yeah deffo agree , 2 systems used v Palace one was crap in the first half the other majestic in the second half . Lots of technical tinkering going on with formations and positions against how opposition teams set up . Thinks it’s fair to say every team we have played so far this season has set up differently against us .

It will take time to bed down.
The change in tactics cost us the Newcastle game.
We were playing De Bruyne and Gundo as forwards just behind Haaland leaving no cover for the fast break when we lost possession.
So I expect lots of tinkering until we figure out the best plays using a traditional CF (who is absolutely phenomenal).

As an added bonus we have to figure out a way to play without Haaland i.e. with Alvarez playing up front.
It is going to be hard for teams to try prepare for games against us because we will have so many different ways we can play.
Whatever formation they do decide on, we can always change our setup during a game to counteract it.

I expect us to be good this season but next season I expect we will be unplayable.

We will deffo go back to a false nine if Haaland isn’t playing , Alvarez will be perfect for that role . That said I personally believe Haaland and Alvarez are going to be incredible upfront for us when both playing together.
Not really here

Ederson is fine imo.

I'm not giving him shit. The defence as a unit isn't functioning well and he's a part of that. We have been abysmal at the back in the last two games.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

Rodri hasn’t been great either and I wonder if Walker and Cancelo being so inverted is messing him up?

I'd say Haaland is still more likely to score even though you'll get the odd one ( very odd one) calling for him to be substituted at half time.
Totally agree that Ederson is fine though, integral to our system. Loads called for him to be dropped for the semi against dippers- if he'd played we'd probably have won the double.

I’ll tell you what is odd , some cunt that actually thinks it’s odd to have knee jerk reactions in a match thread .

Next you will be telling us the shock and horror you felt at some of the frustrated rants in the crowd on match day .

As I’ve said before , many times , you are comedy gold .
Keep it up .

I just don't think he's up to speed yet. He's like first season Rodri, getting caught in possession quite often. Not like him.

To the poster who I said cancelo contributed to the 2 goals - post match viewing I have to correct that , he actually contributed to the one goal with a needless foul which led to the goal .

Great contribution to the site .

Clap clap clap

To add , is Baldie beyond criticism in your anal world ?

He fucked up with the system in the first half and corrected it in the second half .
Try contributing now and again , instead of adding absolutely fuckall.

@Zuricity

I know the rule re keepers releasing the ball and in my opinion the ball had left his hands and it was a late movement from Doucoure that diverted the ball. The surprise to me was that Var didn't look at it.

Re Cancelo, I'm of the same opinion as others on here in that he shouldn't be playing in a defensive position. He's good enough to play further up the pitch. Not his fault that Pep plays him at lb.

VAR couldn't look at it because the ref blew for a foul before the goal was scored. If he had let play continue and awarded a goal they could then have looked at it but as the ref blew for the foul then play is stopped at that point and not a few seconds later.

What a fantastic fisherman your are too. Some great bait saying pep is hampering foden's career, pep is purposely holding gomez back... haaland should be taken off at half time.

I'm just surprised you didn't get more bites with those little nuggets.

There's a difference between knee jerk and number 1 jerk which is definitely Carl.
Everyone in the crowd around me was calling for Alvarez- nobody was asking for him to replace Haaland.
And you still think you were half right.
Only 1 comedy gold on here.

A knee jerk reaction is typed, there and then on the spot, because some incident happened.

Saying that Pep is hampering Foden's career is not knee jerk.
Constantly slagging off the manager and laying the blame for everything at his door (and none of the credit) is not knee jerk.
Suggesting Haaland should be replaced in a game where we need to score at least three goals is not knee jerk.

The above falls under the category of "stupid".
