Can't disagree. I usually give refs benefit of doubt and don't like to moan about tight calls going against us as sometimes they go for us but this feller was just taking the fucking piss.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

He was appaling today that referee.
How on earth some of these refs are refs is mindbogling.
They will make mistakes agreed.
But that penalty near the end when ade was blatantly push in mid air.
The ref was right in front of it.
And seeing how he is a liverpool fan.
Say's evereything really.

I've once or twice thought a ref was awful only to see the replays on telly later and realise he was spot on, there is no way this will be the case today, he was dreadful. And the lino nearest us (opposite side of the pitch from the tunnel) was even worse

Was he actually born where his name suggests? The bloke is an absolute disgrace! SWP asked for the 12th man but what can you do when they've got the Men In Black playing for them?

If I didn't know better I would've sworn that he'd been paid off or been given orders from the Premier League!

DISGRACE I SAY!!!

No mate, he was born in Long Buckby (East Midlands)

By rights he should have retired a few years ago but successfully appealed against it. They really need to put the snile old twat out to pasture now though.

But why would they do that when he does exactly what they tell him to do?

Just a thought.

He was worse than I was expected!

I bet he was itching to give a pen if Benayoun would have gone down.

The FA need to have a serious look at this guy , bent is an under statement.

it was nothing short of phenomenal that managed to maintain his level of preformance throughout the entire game, not seen someone that bad in a long while, and that's saying something.

The ref was the 2nd worse official on the pitc htoday - his complete incompetance was only slightly outshadowed by the Linesman infront of me (kippax) who never made one descision without first looking at the ref for guidance.

Shambolic and a waste of time and blatently bent!

The scouse we'ren't really in it thanks to our great back four today - we should have had them but he did everythign in his power to allow them to cheat thier way to 1 point!

From what I saw of the game ref had an absolute shocker.. first the penalty he refused to give and then the incident where mascherano ran his studs down the back of barrys ankle while he was already on a yellow card

Added to the two corners he gave them in the 1st half that shouldn't have been. The 2nd one of those was on the linesmans side and they both gave the corner! Incredible.

Talking of linesmen, what do we actually have them for? Today was a prime example of a referee exerting his power over the whole game. The linesmen hardly made a decision, waiting for Walton to make the call prior to raising the flag.

I always thought they were there to aide the ref in his duties?

They are there to aid thats why they are now called Assisstant Referees.Although some Refs think they are supermen and almost disregard their assisstants.I have not seen the game but todays ref seems to be one of the supermen types judging by all the previous comments.

Spot one mate.

Referees have become famous and their egos have grown out of all proportion. Years ago nobody knew, or cared, who the ref was and we would very rarely be talking about them after the match. Now I can imagine the sad bastards trawling the internet and reading the papers to see how often they get mentioned. They couldn't give a fuck about ruining matches, they don't care about the thousands of fans who just want to watch a fair match and they don't think twice about how their actions affect the careers of the players and managers.
It's all about them!

Just saw a liverpool forum and it appears they are saying the ref was biased towards us and couldn't believe that the yellow card count was 6-1. TBF if you hack players down for 90 minutes then well you deserve 6 yellows.. ref must of been shocking if both sets of fans complaining about bias

I wouldn't read too much into the Liverpool fans compaining about the Ref.

They love being the victim, it's in their mentality. If they see somebody complaining about something they will always claim they have more to complain about.
