I asked on Saturday “in what world does Mahrez deserve to start” and got told that he’d be rested for tonight.

He’s started two games in a row where he’s been totally dog shit. Jack had three class games in a row and was benched…sorry “rested” and this clown starts two in a row when he doesn’t deserve it.

Pep always has that one player a season he fucks about with and puts in the team when he shouldn’t. Now Sterling has gone Mahrez is that guy.

I switched off at half time. That was a shocker of a performance. Job done is about the only consolation. We really need to sort the full backs out or we are getting rinsed in the knockout stages

Job done i suppose but a poor game. No service to Haaland or Alvarez, nothing from the right , with Mahrez choosing to pass back or cut inside. The guy is not prepared to make runs. Palmer did more in last few minutes. Shocking penalty, keeper hardly had to move. This needs sorting out. ALVAREZ would have put it away i'm sure. Dropped off somewhat since tonking Utd.

I wonder if those who are now fairly castigating Mahrez unfairly did the same to Sterling - who is about twice as good a player btw?

Just got in didn’t see the game, job done but sound like bad performance, missed pen again. Away form continues to be a worry, when was the last time we scored away from home let alone win, away for early Saturday kick off, fingers crossed for a better outcome

Wasn’t expecting much and got what I was expecting. Through as group winners and on the right side of a fixed draw while giving quite a few of our players a rest. What more can you ask.

First half used the same formation that was used against Liverpool. Same results. Defensively suspect combined with no attacking threat. Cancelo's defensive weakness exposed again.
I know key players were not playing in that first half but if we setup like that against clinical teams we will win nothing.

We cannot win the CL with cancelo at the back - he has one huge mistake in him per CL game .

Mahrez been shite, no doubt, but we have a huge, huge penalty problem since Yaya left. Ginger Socrates, Gundo, Foden, they all missed. When was it? Last season when no one wanted to take a penalty va Spuds and Rodri took it and almost missed it?

If we are going to reach a penalty spot situation we are fucked.

They are paid millions, surely they can hire a penalty specialist to practice after training.

Very poor in the first half. Our left flank was all over the place. Cancelo supposedly a bit under the weather so probably shouldn’t have played. Rodri poor too. Alvarez invisible. Haaland off form with a niggly foot issue which is why he was hauled off. Dias was decent as was the goalie and Gundogan. Second half much better. Dortmund posed little threat after 45. MOM Bernardo who improved things the moment he came on. Palmer had only a few minutes but showed intent. A couple of starts against Sevilla and Chelsea would do him the world of good.

Just read on the OS re Cancelo so fair play to him for starting. Agree re Palmer, I'd have him starting in both those games. Pep seems keen on bringing him on when the league games are won which also gives him more game time. I'd also like to see us play esbrand in those two games we need ti be sorting out the full back issues

I am a bit worried about our away form.
Except Sevilla, did we play any good outside our home?

It was the switch to 4-3-3 that tightened things up in the second half.
Stones had a good game imo. He did well stepping into midfield when we had possession allowing other players to move further forward.

Didn’t see the game, but looked at the stats, four bookings to their one, why do we get so many bookings? May cost us later

I assume you're talking about CL only? We went into one away game knowing a draw would see us qualify, and the other knowing a draw would see us top the group. Nothing to read into there, imho.

Only watched the first half where i saw us get two yellows for what I thought were first offences then Haaland sppeared to get a kick and we get a free kick but no yellow. Turns out in slow-mo it was not a foul but ref gave it but no yellow. We do suffer more than most both home and abroad considering the amount of possession we have and it will cost us in the latter stages if we don't manage the count

Full season.
It seem like we struggle a bit away from home this year so far.
