Some of these names are a sad indictment of the quality available to England

I am not English but fuck me, that squad?

Maguire, Shaw, Rashford, TAA and Henderson - Is there any other elite WC squad that they would make?

Phillips, Walker - played no football due to injuries. Stones and Wilson are made of glass.

There are some class players in the squad but there are to many injury prone players and some others who lack quality. This combined with a clueless manager, a total donkey, means England get found out when they come up against quality opponents.

QF or outside chance of SF is about as good as it will get for England imo.

Mark my words, that squad will be home before the postcards

I really can relate to that feeling, if anything annoyed the season is being disrupted by this farce.

He did try shifting the blame onto Platini, though. He said he wanted USA but Platini gave UEFAs 4(?) votes to Qatar......so it's not his fault!!

Now its nearly here, it still feels really really stupid having a world cup in November. A disruption no top club needs. All just for greed and corruption.
Not one bit interested in it.

Not just from a footballing perspective - I'm guessing pub-owners aren't going to be getting the same business in winter, and, come the later rounds, the police won't be too happy dealing with brawls between the work Christmas do crowd and those die-hards who decided to abandon the Christmas shopping and family, and go out to the pub to drink and watch games all day.

It's going to be interesting to see how the Winter switch has affected the profitability of the WC for industries and sectors that normally get a boost from it.

That is a very interesting point, hospitality tend to set their budgets on main events like WC, so your point of the clash with office parties and such could hit them hard, all in all a total clusterfuck.
