Football Media

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Pep in his presser said he didn't hear the chants mentioned and that "IF it's true, then we are sorry".

Surely at this stage and with everyone from the Athletic, all the rag outlets, an MP, a Sky pundit - all saying there were chants about Hillsborough, there would be evidence?

Found guilty after trial by media with no evidence and not once was the word "alleged" mentioned in any of the comments. I really hope the club are seeking legal advice on this.

Some more sorry journalism and details of what the graffiti actually was:
https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer ... 85420.html

So under a picture of the graffiti, which clearly says JFT39 (written about 3 inches high), there's a caption saying "Graffiti pictured in the concourse of the away end at Anfield, following the Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester City, which references the Hillsborough and Heysel disasters. Liverpool have issued a statement in which they said: " We are deeply disappointed to hear vile chants relating to football stadium tragedies from the away section. We know the impact such behaviour has on the families, survivors and all those associated with such disasters". Picture date: Sunday October 16, 2022."

If the moron author bothered to do a quick Google search, he'd find out that JFT39 is only about Justice For the 39 that died in Heysel, and has nothing to do with Hillsborough.

So, there's nothing at all in this related to Hillsborough. It seems this is the Bin Dippers way of deflecting attention and blame from what people really were talking about. Shame on them and someone in the press needs to be brave enough to highlight this.

BBC running with the headline - “ Pep Guardiola apologises for Manchester City fans' chants at Anfield”

That’s not at all what he said or did. I’m fuckin raging here. I was ready to rip Pep apart but reading the actual quote they’ve made it out he’s apologising for Hillsborough chants - he’s said he didn’t hear anything!

We need to take these people to the cleaners now, it’s gone on for too long and if my club carry on letting people walk all over us in this way they won’t be my club for much longer.

I'll be amazed if we're not looking at every legal avenue at this stage

So would I.
One thing the media ignoring Heysel, coin throwing, coach attacks, etc.....but completely different thing when they write lies.
The club need to move and get that BBC headline removed or sue them for the false narrative.

I think the club has lost patience with the constant slagging .
The fight back started calling Klopp a xenophobic cunt .

Our games will be even more which octane form now on and we better beat them at ours next time out !
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

After seven days in which jordan henderson has racially abused an arsenal player, their hitlerjugend manager was shown a straight red for abusing an official, coins were thrown at our manager and City's bus was damaged by liverpool fans for the third time, it is all deflection. Nothing else. There were no "hillsborough chants" (note that it has now become plural despite as you say NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER). It is classic deflection tactics and comes right from the top of that odious club.

Every cnut and his/her brother in the media seems to mention an 'alleged' attack on our coach (even though there's a photo and first hand evidence from players/staff) - but talks like it's gospel that our fans made Hillborough chants. Kind of shows their thinking about our two clubs.

BBC still not changed their headline or the -

“Pep Guardiola has apologised after Manchester City fans chanted about football stadium tragedies during Sunday's game at Liverpool..”

I’m really disappointed in the club.

Liverpool as a club have a lot to answer for regarding heysel and their response to it. Their shortfalls get swept under the carpet and need highlighting in the media. The media don’t pick up on it and it’s wrong.
But singing about The Sun and murderers is not singing about Heysel. It’s about hillsborough and that is hugely disappointing and wrong.
I’m glad the club have apologised.

Don’t remember Liverpool apologising for the Harold Shipman song, coming from Hyde, and, losing both my paternal grandparents to that murdering bastard I find that song grossly offensive but never heard any outrage from the media, or any apologies from that cesspit of a City, so personally I am annoyed the club felt it necessary to apologise

Equally disgusting topic to sing about as football fans and really sorry to hear that.
Personally I’m glad we are big enough as a club to acknowledge it’s wrong. Makes us better than Liverpool on and off the field imo.

From what I'd seen on social media, there was a chant singing "the sun was right, you're murderers". Unless I'm missing something?

The club sent a private message to the Hillsborough Supporters Group and Pep got blindsided by the media and apologised ‘if’ it did happen. There was a very small minority who sang it and therefore an apology was needed. We should be better than that, even if it’s because we know what the aftermath will be.

Stick with the Victim song, and even murderers for Heysal, but don’t give them the ammunition by going so low.

I wonder if Pep will be forced to apologise for them losing to Forest.

Only 1 video of chanting has come to light. If it happened there would be several. As one post already suggested, the video seems doctored. I accept the graffiti referring to Hillsborough should be left alone , anything regarding Heysel is fair game. Bricking and damaging coaches, and coin throwing are criminal acts and needs sorting. MP s talking about education regarding Hillsborough is very selective, lets include all football diasters / deaths if we're going to do that

I recall many occasions at Maine Road when scousers would scale the walls to get in for free. Not enough police there . A regular event with them . I suppose it was better to have them in the stadium than getting into mischief outside it . I can't help singing the REM song about "Those creatures jumped the Barricades" whenever topics about Scouse2 fans come up.
