WC 2022 Official Thread

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Since the 60s, for me, the WC was the pinnacle.
International teams were better than club sides, players usually played their club football in their country of birth, it was a real treat to see the great players in their national sides complete every four years.
The world was less complex, pre (massive) globalization, pre (massive) FIFA corruption, pre the granny rule, pre (massive) movement of people.
Football was football. Politics were kept out of it. No country was without fault. But everyone knew that football was not there to address politics or ram ideologies down people's throats. Football was an escape, a distraction to all the crap.
Brazil 1970 was the best team I ever saw. Pure joy to watch and indulge in the football, nothing else.
I will watch this WC, in Winter (sad -greed and corruption), but something fundamental has changed in the World, the WC will never be what it used to be.

1966 in England was a once in a lifetime event for me it seems, USA/Mexico in 2026 and no chance for us to host it after that either :( :(

I do love a good underdog story, but the constant timewasting makes me hate these underdogs.
