Identical timing! I’m sure bail conditions will be extended. All not guilty charges were unanimous.

Said from the start after speaking with my mate who is a prison officer that he wouldn’t be guilty. The fact they were all brass and the media didn’t report it shows the disgusting lengths our countries media will go to, to manipulate the general public.

The guys life could have been ruined ffs. Other people were dragged into this, players, friends, Pep.

The disgusting scum that accused him need to be deported and/or do time.

Separate trials ordered for the two defendants. Mendy retrial scheduled for June 26. Expected to last only only two or three weeks because of the greatly reduced number of charges. One count of rape had already been dropped after a video was admitted to evidence.

Pending the resolution of the next trial his contract will be terminated by mutual consent. Even if acquitted there is no way BM can ever play in the UK again he will get dogs abuse at matches, on social media and in the street and he will sadly never be free of this. This is the court of public opinion not law we are dealing with.

All football clubs give guidance to younger players about exactly this type of thing but as a lateral hire BM won't have received this guidance. A civil claim could be made by him against the accusers and false accusers have been jailed in the past but that said Club and the League will want to move past this swiftly.

Criminal conduct is not an insurable risk, unlike career ending injury, and there will be clauses in his contract for bringing the club into disrepute. These will be used to negotiate settlement of the contract for a agreed sum on a civil basis along the lines of "yes you were innocent but what did you think you were doing consorting with prostitutes when it is reasonably foreseeable there would be negative ramifications for you and the club"

Celebrities are plagued by this as this bizarre example demonstrates:

Drake and the hot-sauce issue

The Home Affairs Select Committee investigation into the Carl Beech allegations against the late Sir Leon Brittan and others proves just how ineffective the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) is in these circumstances. Albeit these allegations were total fantasy and the accuser is now in jail. The fact pattern here is different but the net result is the same the police are dammed if they do and if they don't.

Post Saville and following years of ineptitude by Police forces across the country any allegation made, especially against a public figure, in the post "Me Too" environment will be taken seriously by Police and CPS. There are no winners here, but BM is unquestionably the biggest loser.

A retrial on two counts, that could drag on for years with the parasites bleeding the system.

It was reported during the trial the WhatsApp group. That’s partly why one charge was thrown straight out wasn’t it?

A woman who has accused Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy of rape was in a WhatsApp group with another alleged sex assault victim who wanted to sue the football club, a court has heard.

The alleged victim denied trying to “minimise” knowing the other woman, after telling people in a statement: “I think I may have met her once but cannot be sure.”

They all knew each other, absolute scum.

The longer it went on. The more likely he would be found not guilty. What an absolute crock of shit the CPS are. The re trial, if it goes ahead, will be be a quick not guilty. I doubt you cou find an unbiased jury for another trial. At the end of all this Mendy should sue the arse off the police and CPS. He's guilty of being a fool. The women and their advisors should face trial

The director of public prosecutions needs to give a damn good explanation of how this went to trial and cost the public untold millions.

Nothing short of a scandal

Same reason Ched went to trial and got convicted. I’m sure I read that they wanted to make an example of a footballer at the time - which makes sense when he was the player more likely to make it out of him and Clayton.

On reflection i have sympathy for him. However he was a very foolish lad to leave himself so exposed to these people.
