I’d imagine WHU telling porkies to their friends in the media to panic Arsenal.

If we do end up getting Rice, then Arsenal just go and spend £60m less on Lavia. Who is the real winner there?

This.
Be surprised if we made a bid at all. We've heard over the last few days about how a City bid is imminent. When we identify a player and bid on him, it isn't usually a long drawn out process. We simply get it done. If we were truly interested in Rice we'd have made our move and secured the boy. The fact the media says a bid is incoming shortly is a smokescreen to up the price, most likely leaked by the club and/or agent.

We’re playing a blinder by keeping quiet. The minute we say, “we’re not interested” upper hand to Arsenal in getting the price lowered.

It smells a bit like what happened with Grealish. I remember there was a couple of weeks of us keeping quiet but the media saying we were in for him. It was up in the air to fans for a while.

This seems to be going the same way.

If Rice doesn’t really want to come here then let him go to Arsenal. Not keen on him feeling forced to do so. If he sees it as a great opportunity which it would be then fine.

Don't think clubs make formal bids unless the player is wanting to join, maybe explains why ours is not reported as being received by West Ham. If he isn't keen a bit surprised we'd let Sullivan use us to rinse Arsenal tho'.

Decent player but he needs to be able to get to the next level. Can he do that? Not sure but i'm not as averse to him as i was about Grealish. If we get him we get him, if not meh. More interested in Gvardiol. Would be nice to get Rice just to piss off Arsenal

The ITK’s on the other forum are saying we bid last Tuesday and it’s a cash bid. Arsenals in £20 up front and drip payments over 5 years. We have no budget concerns due to last seasons profit and this seasons winnings. Any other Arsenal payment structure will probably cripple them in the market for 2 seasons.

I want us to sign him just to piss off Arsenal. I really can't stand these self entitled cunts. Apparently Rice is joining them because of the history. We haven't even bid ffs, imagine if they signed him, the will be celebrating beating themselves to his signature the weirdos.

History  Never won the European Cup. According to everyone when it came to us that was what defined “History”.

Still no bid forthcoming for Rice. And each passing day decreases the likelihood of one

Good. I hope they sign him for 120m and blow their budget. Imagine if he flops! These weirdos have never been good at signing expensive players, they always seem to flop. It's like giving a busker a credit card and ask them to shop at Harrods.
Like I said, I hope we sign him just to make them implode or at least push the price up to break their backs.

Wouldn't be bothered if we didn't bid, anything around 100m for him is insane. Never worth that much. Surely there are less expensive options out there.

Looks like a bid of £80m + £10m add-ons has gone in.

And surprise surprise BBC are reporting the total “City bid £90m”

When did including add-ons that might never come to fruition become normal? Is it only for City?
