Both overpriced.

It’s our own fault we’re having to pay £40m to get him back. If you minus what we got from Southampton for him, plus the 20% sell on as well will have a play in negotiations, it’ll be less than £40m.

I’ve never seen Rice have a game where I thought “wow. You know what, there’s potential here. Pep could do something with him”. Genuinely never seen him have a game like that. And for £110m I’d extra least one. Even with Grealish, we saw at Villa where he’d have class games. But not Rice.

The truth is English players are way overpriced. 100 million was a lot for Grealish frankly even if he’s playing well now. We are forced by the home grown rules to pay these prices though, I suppose.

Grealish is worth £100m because of his market value. I’ve had rags ringing me up since the final saying “he’s class Grealish isn’t he”. You’ve got kids growing their hair out and wearing Alice bands to be like him. It’s not just about the football pitch with him.

Rice isn’t marketable. No kid wants to look like this -

I don’t think we’d have paid 100 million for him if he had the same talent but was Jacob Grealski from Poland.

Rob Dawson has the same story. Not much doubt. Most posters here will be happy with that. We await Txiki’s next move. Full bore for Gvardiol I presume to start with.

I wanted him, but it means we either have Bernie almost resigned or we are up to something else.
Trust the Spafia.

At least he is going to Arse and none of the red cunts.

Txiki has shown time and again he won’t pay over the top prices. Maguire, Sanchez ( wages) Kane now Rice.

Spot on. He was the most likeable english player in the world at the time(still is) and was great for pr plus obvs a very talented footballer. My sister in law who hates football and knows nothing all of a sudden knew who man city was and was interested and you can bet there were millions like that too.

We didnt need him for homegrown rules, we are fairly ok in that department.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cucurella was the big one last year. We were desperate for a left back and still walked away. It’s fantastic to see.

If bernardo stays we dont need rice, or any one else for that matter. Phil and julian can also play central.

We’ve been here before. The club has a valuation of a player. Once that is exceeded we walk away. So far we’ve made the right decisions. (Maguire, Cucarella).
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

Totally agree on Rice not having the wow factor and not winning games by himself. For that money you want match winners

One could add Cucurella Koulibaly Fred to the list. There’s a pattern there. The window is young. Let’s cross fingers and toes that Bernie stays. The happiest will be Phillips. The fact that City bid 90 plus 5 for Rice suggests that Pep is not enthused. If we dont buy another midfielder he’s got a lot to prove.

Someone tweets will Rice be booed at every PL ground next season? Good question. I think we know the answer.
