Adios Algerian Prince?

The best first touch I ever saw.
Looks like he is going. He will be missed.

Think he’s still got a place in the squad and would be useful but hard to argue with going somewhere that you’ll earn loads for barely any work.

Good luck if you go mate

His first touch is as filthy as a £10 hooker

He has been a great player for us, but at 32, £30M or so when he has a year left on his contract is too good to turn down. And it's also a great opportunity for the boy himself to score a few quid in his latter years which you can't begrudge

I'd be ok with him going but why shouldn't we get setting stupid lime 50m for him.

They're willing to throw huge sums at this new project. Throw some of them at the club

Scousers getting £40m for Fabinho so we should at least get that

Why?

Mahrez is 3 years older and only has a year left on his contract. That determines price more these days

Who we gonna replace him with though? - forget anybody in the squad now, nobody even remotely suitable when Palmer goes on loan and Foden is pulled into the centre to replace Bernie. Nico Williams, Joao Felix, Kvaratskhelia - currently the barcodes are in for him - Adama Traore on a free, likewise Wilf Zaha?

Mahrez is a treble winner and has won double what Fabinho has over the last 5 years.

Plus he’s an attacker. I’m sure those Saudi fans aren’t going to pay to see a DM tackling. They’ll want goals

Football is lacking quality players, sadly. My pick would be Rodrygo from Madrid, but he is not coming.
Maybe Mitoma and move Phil on the right where he is at his best, imho?

Mahrez is a better player. Far more a game changer than Fabinho. And on a level field would command a bigger fee. But as pointed out, his contract is the sticking point.

But I don’t quite get why the Saudi’s are happy enough to offer eye watering wages yet so far seem reluctant to pay big transfer fees as most of the players so far who have gone have gone on frees. Is it because they are going to default on salaries in the future? And if club’s default on transfer fees then they can be sanctioned more easily and seeing as how they all seem to state owned, maybe the Saudi FA could fall foul and face repercussion’s themselves?

Looks ok. Let’s not forget McAtee will likely get a chance to shine this season as well. Doubt there’s much between them even now

Applying Pep's logic.... why not go for Vini Jr and play him on the right wing instead of the right, only 23..... no idea of his personality would fit?

I could also see Alvarez doing a job playing inside right as well.

I'm happy with him going now. He's contributed when he's played, but I don't see his impact to be any more than Sterling's was, eg, hit and miss, anonymous and wasteful at times when he plays which is why he's ultimately not a starter.

I can't help thinking we're potentially on the verge of a couple of monstrous transfers subject to a couple of these outgoings, and it wouldn't surprise me if maybe we're not looking for a like for like replacement and there's a change of style afoot
