I haven't caught up with the swales era posts by Colin Bell so might be covered in there, if not some of the slightly older posters can fill you in. All i know is we bought him for £1.2m and sold him for £700k a year later because we couldn't afford his wages anymore.

Swales said we couldn't afford his wages even though he was the one who'd authorised them. We went top of the league at one point with him.
Francis said afterwards that he never wanted to leave, John Bond quit because of it and we ended up relegated.
