Clearly his advancing age and his performances for Barca this season, not disputing his contribution to the treble at all or that we miss him badly.Mase wrote:johnny crossan wrote:Mahrez & Gundo are undeniably both past their best now but agree in the latter's case his replacement(s) seem to be well off the level we need.sheblue wrote:It's a bit different this time, we've lost quality and gained mediocre players.
Not writing us off, but we are different to last season.
I never liked gundo when he played at 6, but boy are we missing him at 8.
Kovacic and nunes are mediocre, haven't brought anything to the table. Sorry but one half decent champions league game against crap opposition doesn't cut it.
Gundo integral to us winning the treble. His goals in the Cup Final and we don’t win it. His goals towards the end of the season in the Prem and we don’t win it.
What in the world makes you think he was past his best?

We got a break with the dipper result today, plus they lose Salah in January to Afcon & have to play Arsenal twice too. Forget the 3 teams above us though it's effectively in our hands to win an historic fourth consecutive title.Blue Jam wrote:Yesterday I felt like we'd blown the season.
We're 5 points off the top.
I do think this Club world Cup has distracted us, and there will be some distraction effect in the wake of the club world cup over Xmas, which won't help us.
But we've not quite blown it yet.

We could end up with a final day of season in which 4 or 5 teams could win the title.
The refs wouldn't dream of manufacturing such a scenario, surely...

Weird that Liverpool have had Wolves last game of the season three times in recent years.
