Sorry, pet peeve that the term ‘racism’ gets thrown around when it isn’t.

I think you will find the term refers to ethic groups as well , of which they are , just as the English are.

So why was the word xenophobic invented? It’s not racist. Just because a definition has been updated on Google based on muppets in society (mainly online) it doesn’t make it real.

by the Ancient Greeks ? no idea Mase, perhaps a fear of people they did not know ? not the same as calling someone out though (for whatever reason ) is it ?

Looks like he’s definitely off then.

Very poorly advised. If he does leave I hope his career goes down the shitter.

Yep, I also hope he will have a stinker.

Now who are we buying? We need a big one.

Good player, but if he wants outs what’s the point of keeping him. I’d seeing if we can tempt Vinny Jr. Big bid for a big player.

Vinny Jr would be a superb if unlikely signing

As would Musiala

Musiala or Wirtz would be my dream signings.

Ederson wanted out as well (by all accounts ) - if we let all players leave because they ‘want out ‘ we’d be in trouble .

We should do more to keep players IMO , all this bollocks of “if they want to leave they can go”is exactly that , Bollocks .

We should demand true value for anyone under contract. If they want out, that's on them but we shouldn't let anyone go on terms that don't suit us. I don't want Alvarez to go but he is not getting regular game time ahead of Haaland

Fuming tbf he's a better forward player than haaland imo. And that's now let alone fulfilling potential
It may look like a decent fee bur any lesser replacement will cost more and it sounds like we won't buy anyone imo unless irs another panic

Agree we need to do more to keep

Going into another season with one forward and one dm is madness

We seem to have done this only for Bernie.

I think the difference with Ed and Alvarez is Ed kept quiet and spoke with the club directly. Alvarez decided to be a gobby little runt and talk to the media openly. I think that’s why the club are pushing to get this deal done. If a player comes to the club and says they want to leave we are good with them, any that go to the media and do it we seem to get them out ASAP.

That €81m is with the add ons that may never come Balon dOr, CL etc?

Up front fee is apparently €75m ie £64.3m

According to transfermarkt his value was €90 ie £77.2

Personally I would have wanted min £70 up front or no deal (and dispensed with add ons)

No, it’s €95m with add-ons according to Jack Gaughan.

Very good deal.

what is it with atletico and their obsession with 'utility' forwards? griezmann and joao felix, now julian. no doubt a talented footballer but he doesn't have a proper position. i am not disappointed to see him go for that kind of fee.

Excellent deal, I think it might be the best we ever sold someone?

However, I am disappointed he is going, but he is a big boy. He chose to leave the biggest club in the world to join a team that rarely wins the league in Spain, just so he can play every game as a striker.
It is on him, can't say I wish him well, I hope it will see the grass is not greener thing, but we will manage.

Now, we are in a situation that we should have avoided, not wait until 6th of August. We are in need of a player and clubs now know that and we will have to pay again above the value.
I hope we will get Musiala or Olmo, but I am worried we might stick with what we have because Pep thinks we are strong enough when we clearly are not.

11 goals last season in the league from Alvarez. I think Bobb could get that if he had 31 starts as well.
