I don't understand all the nasty responses. He was up front with the club and Pep true to his belief said , if he doesn't want to be here, then he can go.

That's good enough for me. At least we knew where we stood with him.

Again , good luck , he is a great player. Whether Madrid is the best place for him, we will only find out soon. Just like Palmer , who i think will get found out this season.

He spoke to the press before speaking to Pep, hence Pep’s angry reaction when asked about the comments.

Anyone that does it correctly and speaks with the club and doesn’t talk to the media is okay.

All this “good luck, I hope you do well” is weird when a player goes. Especially one that was only here two years.

Basic civility. He did well for us overall, decided he wanted to go elsewhere and we made a nice profit. I didn't want him to go. It may work out but i suspect he hasn't gone to win medals with Madrid but for family reasons

Indeed. I think someone posted a couple of weeks ago his brother(?) visa expired and wasn’t going to be renewed and that was a big part of why he wanted to go as his support network had basically gone. And ultimately an unhappy player off the pitch isn’t as productive on it

I like him. I thought he would actually take over from Haaland one day in the not so distant future and I will miss him overall

And like ZC and others, I wish him well

I agree too with the above, he was no bother when here, always came across as humble.

We should thank him for his service and for generating a tidy profit having contributed to our goal tally in 2 remarkable seasons. He didn't force a move like some of the players we've signed down the years by going on feckin strike (which is cuntish).

Nobody is making him out to be a saviour, the players are seen as nothing but commodities by some on here and I wouldn't want to work with or for some of you.

Some fans will wish him well some won’t. If we all agreed as fans we wouldn’t need this forum. The usuals can wish him well. Me, Carl, Nige and Outcast will tell him to fall off a cliff.

Is what it is.

I thought he would outlast Haaland. Seems the visa wirh his brother was a big factor though why that could not be settled, I don't know. I wish him well in any game except against us for the future

Absolutely no truth in the visa rumour. Someone started it on BlueMoon and people are using it to defend a lad that wants a pay rise and warmer climate. As Pep has said, “he wants a new challenge”. If there were any family issues with visas Pep would have likely mentioned it.

If there was no visa issue and he's gone for another reason i.e. game time then fair play to him. He's gone so we move on

Can’t be game time - he started 31 Premier League matches for us. “A new challenge” Pep has said.

It's as simple as he wants to play as a forward because he's a forward lol. He's won it all so why try and play midfield

As soon as we signed him I said " pep better not fuck his position up, like jesus"

Think carl said the same after a bit and we saw what he was like at the world cup in his proper position.

He played as a striker for the majority of his 31 starts last season while Haaland was out for 3 months. He barely scored!

As soon as we signed him you said Pep better not fuck his position up.......and that's the season we won the treble.
Last season he had a couple of months in that position when Haaland was injured and he scored 1. He came on in the Cup Final and missed 2 sitters.
I think we've got a great deal and I don't see us missing him

Re writing things a bit here - he made sure we were still on track for the league during those 3 months.

32 goal contributions for the season.

If anyone made sure we didn’t miss Haaland’s goals while he was out it was Foden.

This.
Alvarez had a wank season. Anyone can see in the match threads he got a lot of heat here because he was poor.

That’s not true, according to the player himself.

April this year -

I played more this season – the first year I had to be more patient – I’ve played in different positions – as a nine or a 10. But I’m happy to be playing a lot more.

I can adapt to both nine or 10 but I’d say I prefer playing as a nine. Players here need to be able to adapt to what the manager says – sometimes It can be a bit confusing changing a lot. But you have to adapt."

Signed a new contract last year, prefers playing behind the striker - he had his head turned by money. It’s okay to admit that, as fans we can’t just make excuses and make up VISA issues, game time, position issues when it’s all in black and white.

Hes moved for money and that’s okay.
