Roberto Mancini has been accused of managing with "a lack of ability" in the latest demonstration from Robinho that he does not want to go back to Manchester City when his loan arrangement with Santos ends.

Although Mancini maintains that he would like Robinho to return to the club in August, the Brazilian has confirmed he has no intention of moving back to Manchester to play for a manager he blames, in part, for his poor form this season. Robinho has already shipped all his belongings to Brazil and instructed his representatives to find him a new club, and after scoring four goals in six games for Santos he has publicly criticised Mancini for the first time since leaving City.

He said: "At City, when I was playing, I knew that at some point the substitution board would go up and I was going to come off because the manager didn't have trust in me. Then, you start to lose your confidence on the pitch."

Mancini had said he wanted Robinho to "write the history of the club" when he replaced Mark Hughes as manager in December but he quickly concluded that the most expensive player in English football, signed from Real Madrid for £32.5m, should be allowed to leave.

The Italian also publicly humiliated Robinho by bringing him on as a substitute after Roque Santa Cruz was injured nine minutes into the 2-0 defeat at Everton in January but then withdrawing him 16 minutes into the second half.

"I spoke to the manager after the game," Robinho said. "He admitted to me that he had made a mistake taking me off. It was the first time I have had to go through something like that in my career but I suppose there's always a first time. It wasn't a lack of respect, though. I just think it was a lack of ability on the part of the manager."
Robinho's form with Santos looks to have earned him a place in Brazil's World Cup squad. He scored in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.

I consider the language aspect of this kind of article quite a bit, with more than a sceptical view upon them, and I understand how easy it would be for a journalist to 'interpret' the language the way they want.

But its happened too many times for it to be a dodgy interpretation, and surely if Robinho thought his words were printed out of context, then he'd come out and say so.

My money is on these quotes being a retort on the Shay Given quote after the Ireland v Brazil game:

It is petty, unnecessary and will only serve to hinder him for the rest of his career. So much for him wanting to win the Ballon D'or. The lad needs to sort his head out sharpish, whether it be at City or some other club, if he wants to be remembered.

I'm with OD on this. I defended Robinho for a long time but he chose to stick two fingers up to us fans. It's not about fookin Mancini, he was just as poor under Hughes. I can (barely) tolerate players with little or no ability but what I can NOT tolerate is player who just don't give a fook, which was the case with Robinho. This is Manchester City and no player is bigger than the club. If he doesn't turn up, which was the case in Everton, then he'll be treated just like anyone else.

Furthermore, he is under contract with us and shouldn't be fucking mouthing off.

Previously youv'e said all players are mercinaries and and are only interested in their bank balances and you accept that and think thats the way it is.
And now cos you want to make a point its down to loyalty,whereas before you knew loyalty had fuckall to do with it.
I dont feel he has stuck two fingers up at me.Maybe I've missed something.
He has said he thinks the chosen one is inept.Theres a few others on here who have said that.
