The Mancini teams were as blunt as fuck in Europe every year and definitely not entertaining in it

I'm not talking about Europe specifically but my overall memory of how i felt was a lot lot better than watching a lot of our dominating performances under Pep. A significant number of which are boring as fuck. A few years ago when we banged in 3 or 4 goals or more, it was alot better to watch and exciting. We played ok today for the first 30 minutes then it was just repeat the same tactics , the same patterns, no changing around up front, Doku could have swapped wings , Haaland could have moved . We totally dominated this amateur team ( in comparison ) they offered nothing and we wasted a fantastic chance to bang in a lot of goals. Other lesser teams will be more ruthless against them

Any reason why someone that played preseason and did well doesn’t start over someone that had a 2 month holiday and couldn’t be arsed coming back to fight for a place and has looked absolutely toss every time they’ve played?

Oh yeah…£53m….

I’ve just read he’s related to Alan Ball and been sick in my mouth.

His family are from St Helens aren’t they?

Think(?) Him and his elder brother brother John (who also plays professionally) grew up in Ordsall. Both their dad and grandad were amateur rugby league players. In answer to Nick, no way he wasn't / isn't Utd. I can count on the fingers of one hand the blues in ordsall growing up and thats me and branny on here

Yeah I did think after I put that, that maybe one of his relatives played for St Helens.

Deserves to be starting over Nunes in any match, that’s for sure. The fact we paid £10m more for Nunes than we got for Palmer still knocks me sick.

Agreed that we should be seeing McAtee before Nunes -both need to be banging on the door in our current situation and showing why they should be starting

Rico - CLASS!!! Seems to be able to perform in any position he’s put in. Some of the balls for Haaland were great last night.

Hadn't thought about this until last night, but the way the new league is set up, large-margin wins against the weaker teams could be crucial to securing a top 8 finish, as a lot of the positions will be determined by goal difference, which will be much more critical with only 8 games played by each of the 36 teams (plus there being no head-to-head).

Win 6 and draw 2 and we’ll be fine. But I agree, scoring more isn’t a bad thing ever. But we were unlucky in that we hit the woodwork three times and their goalie made 2 or 3 really good saves

I don't want to hear anymore bollocks about he will come good, give him time etc.
Very limited player has no future with us.

Got agree with this. If he was ever going to perform, it would have been in this game against limited opposition.
TBH, I think Pep has realised this.

Hopefully

Yeah, I reckon the cut-off between 8th and 9th will fall around the 16-18 point mark. But that would still mean one draw and one defeat in the first 5 or 6 could potentially put us in dangerous waters. Points will probably be closer in the 'mid group' for seedings in the playoff round (with each team statistically being expected to lose 2 or 3 and draw a similar amount), and GD will probably have a greater impact there.

Pep has realised it a while ago. I would be shocked if he ever started a prem game.
