John Guidetti is on the path of success - He now gets to train with the senior team: No small blokes.

John Guidetti have been moved up to the Manchester City reserve team. This means that he will regulary get to train with Roberto Mancini and the senior football team.

- Everything goes like a dream, he says to fotbollskanalen.se

The talented 17 year old Swedish Manchestery City academy player have just come home from a youth tournament. He will now be moved up from the City's U18 team to the reserves.

- Everything goes like a dream. I just came home from a tournament in Abu Dhabi. Inter, Valencia and the UAE national football team where there. We played two group stage matches and a final. I was selected as the best player in the first two matches and later on awarded the best player of the tournament.

Johns strong performances have made an impression with city's leaders. He will now be moved up from the U18 team to the reserves.

- Im coming closer and closer [to playing football at senior level]. I will now train full time with the reserves, where there are alot of U21 national players. Many of these get to go on loan, but only to teams at the highest level. Hopefully things will move quickly. If I play great in a game, that just might be enough, if Mancini is looking.

Do you get to play alot with the senior team?
- Yes, every time the senior team wants to test a new setup or play games in traning.

You will go head to head with Micah Richards then?
- Exactly, no small blokes.

How did you perform with the U18 team?
I made 13 goals in 13 matches in the U18-series and thats a damn good serie. Federico Machedo came directly from that series last season when he went straight into a Manchester United side. He never scored versus us. We beat them with 5-0 and 2-0.

Whats your next step, to go on loan, or perhaps change club for a chance to play with the senior team, or are you staying with City jumping at every opportunity that comes your way?
- I dont know. I just have to perform. But sure, if Barcelona calls tommorow and tells me they want me, then I would lie if I wouldn't consider to say yes. At the same time, if City would offer me playing with the first 11, then I would go for that instead.

It has been rumored with a move to Sweden, is there anything in it?
- I dont know. I love football as much as the next football fan and I know that every little thing gets blow out of proportion in the media. There is always alot of rumours. But I have my agent and my parents helping me with all of that. I just play [football]. I dont even know how my contract looks like.

Have you noticed any difference with Mancini in place of Mark Hughes, who was fired?
- He tends to give the youth players more chances. Many of my friends who are two years older has made a debut now. Guys that I played with last year, Dedryck Boyata, has played 4-5 games. I feel that I am at their level. Same story with Abdi (Abdisalam Ibrahim), he have also gotten the chance to play. That would never had happened with Mark Hughes.

- It is a lot more relaxed at the tranining facilities. Hughes where very strict. You now have the feeling that you can participate in some lighthearted fun, as long as you keep focused with the training etc.

Guidetti was recruited by Sven-Göran Eriksson in 2008 and has in addition to playing with City's U18 team also made a breakthrough with the swedish P92-squad, where he scored four goals last fall against Holland.

I was going to start a thread on this kid myself, when i read about his exploits with the reserves.
He seems a very ambitious young man not so long ago he was talking about wanting a chance in the senior side,he obviously feels hes got what it takes and bags of conficence which is very important with a striker.
Has anyone been watching him in the under 18s or reserves that can give us an account of how good he actually is now/could be in the future?

Seen him play for th totesport team last year -seen him play for the under 18s three times this year. Also saw him play 45 minutes for the reserves at Hyde a couple of weeks ago.Not seen anything with my own eyes to suggest that he is the next Wayne Rooney. He is physically strong has good touch for a big lad and people who have seen more of him than I have seem to rate him quite highly. The hype seems to have come from the players mouth ;hes certainly no shrinking violet. In playing style he reminds me of Mark Viduka.

You can rarely tell for sure how far a player will go 12 months ago I wouldnt have put money on Boyata and Ibrahim making first team debuts this season. On a positive note for him he is obviously making progress.

As usual, your spot on with your analaysis.
I went to the match last night, and he seems to have found some speed and held the ball up well.
He has also filled out.
His first goal was in the back of the net, before Nicky had moved.
His second was a belter, controlled the ball, turned the defender, drew Nicky who saved his initial shot,he slipped the rebound in from an acute angle
3rd was a penalty which Nicky saved, but he hit the rebound in
The first well built forward I have seen for years,to come through the ranks

There really is some contrasting reports of how the lads act/feel in training! I'm confused...

Anyway, hopefully he becomes the next Sturridge.

Guess most people dont understand a bit in that clip and since i was bored
i started to translate, and then just skiped that and wrote it down in swedish
and used google translate insted...

In my opinion hes sounds very humble towards the task and yes there is
alot of talk but as he do say, If he dont believe in it, then who will?
And if there is anything that is clear after this clip(and in most interviews hes done in Swedish)
is that he knows it, and is prepared to work his ass of to get where he wants to be...

John
When I wake up in the morning my first priority is my training. I go to my training first,
and it is not like I have to go to school and then run to Grimsta (Brommapojkarna trainingground,
his former club) and then be tired before I could even start my training. When I wake up I eat
breakfast and then have focus on the importance in my training. And then afterwards
(after school I guess) I still have a lot of time I can spend on my training and my recovery,
diet, so my thought is that I can here spend more energi on what I feel is important for me and that is my football.

Journalist
John Guidetti have establiched himself at Man Citys Academy and have in the Swedish National U18 team
shown his finishing skills through 8 goals in 3 matches.

Journalist
It's Thursday afternoon and despite the fact that Manchester City have
been training holiday is still time for the day's second workout with dad Mike.

Mike
Today, as we did a speed and acceleration workout. You have to get
another legmovement than what you normally have in football. That you
dont sink into the stage, but floats on top and that is what we are trying
to get to. A lot of speed in football will be determined in the first steps.
They are the ones we focus on now.

John
When you arrive where I am now. Manchster City where everyone has talent.
It is their best young people from all countries. And if everyone has so much
talent, then it will depend on who takes the best and anyone who wants it most
and to ensure that all margins are on their side. If I do a bit more than him,
then I think I give myself a better chance to succeed. And that is how you must think constantly.

Journalist
Mike Guidetti has a past as a player and coach of the Swedish national team
rugby. And in addition to Mike's father, Mike is also John's personal trainer
full time. It is rare in football and it happens sometimes that outsiders will react.

Mike
It is clear that there is a bit suspect in the eyes of many to engage so
much in his son's training, and many ask the question if there are my dreams
that I try to experience through John. In a way it's so. But do not to be
successful as a footballer, but a dream to do something in full. Making the best.
It has always fascinated me, long before I had children, to take it all out, so to
speak. So it's incredible. It is a privilege to do so with his own son.

John
If you want to succeed you will see the pyramid out like that. It becomes
thinner and thinner the higher up one goes. More and more players fall away.
There's how many examples whatsoever. As just risen and risen, and then bang
as it went down.
Because other stuff comes into play. Girls, money, you think you're fullfield, lalalala,
parties, not to sleep on time, do not eat right, all that stuff, and as I said, I am only 17 years.
There is plenty to keep track on and he is such an important person for me.
Some who might have gone far, and instead went down. The possibility is
that they didn’t have one who keep you on track. You come on at six and I
know it's damn hard but now we have to go up and do this practise.

Mike
The relationship that we get in and with this it is not too out of the
ordinary nearest bit symbiotic. So it's a responsibility to manage it.
So we go out as healthy in our relationships beyond the training work we do together.

John
I will be the best in the world. It's clear. No, but. No, but then if I do not believe in it,
then who should? If I do not sit here and think to myself that I will be the best in the world
then no one else would believe in it either. My dad will not believe it. My family who
sacrificed so much to me. Giving up so much.

Too much modesty is no good in a striker. But then you have to live up to the big talk, or you are indeed the next Sturridge!
