No way could he have stayed at City - he’s about to marry Roy Keane’s daughter!

I’d suggest letting Laporte go was, in hindsight, the bigger error

Probably true, though iirc he indicated that playing through various injuries whilst at City limited his ability to compete at the top level. He got some unfair stick on here tbh.
Back to THB, it’s easy to criticise us for letting some of our our youngsters go in retrospect. Personally, I’d like to give the youngsters some slack to prove themselves, but I also appreciate the difficulties of juggling a large squad while competing at the top level.

We don’t have a large squad - as we’re showing now. Choosing the correct loans is important - no reason Delap or THB couldn’t have gone out on loan to a Prem team and then back to us for Cup games.

We’ve got a buy back on them both - will we use it? Absolutely not.

Burnley fan at worked absolutely raved about THB when he was playing under Kompany - was really surprised they never made him permanent or took him on loan again for the following season in the Prem. He was tipping him as a future England captain, if he carries on and reaches those heights we may make use of the buy back clause....

The loan deal with Southampton last season included a mandatory £20 million purchase if they got promoted. I don't think either party expected Southampton to get promotion but after Southampton did indeed get promoted there really wasn't anything City could have done other than persuade THB to reject the deal and guarantee him games. This would not have been feasible, especially when Stones, Dias, Ake and Gvardiol were all in front of him. I'd like to see the option taken up on him and possibly Stones jettisoned as he's far too injury prone.

I'd have THB over Akanji any day. Akanji sucks at defending and coming forward.

My mates a Blackburn fan and they had both THB and Braithwaite on loan and he said THB is by far the better player.

Chelsea or Rags will pay £60m for him next summer.

I agree. For me Laporte being sold made no sense. On his day i thought he was better than Dias, Stones, Ake, Akanji. He didn't seem to cause any issues behind the scenes, just seemed to be one of Pep's whims to bin him
