***Champions v Spurs Official Match Thread***

Postby nottsblue » Sat Nov 23, 2024 7:08 am

Football is back. And I'm not sure I've missed it to be honest.

But it's going to be a good game I think. Spurs under Postecoglu won't park the bus so it should be quite open which hopefully will suit. And hopefully we have more back in defense, though Kovacic being out is a blow. He's played well lately. Maybe we tweak our formation a bit as I don't think we have a proper DM like Rodders or Kova?

But I think Spurs have a few out as well so hopefully we can exploit that. Prepare for Son having his obligatory decent game as well!!

Confident overall though and hopefully the mood in the camp is buoyant with the news about Peps contract extension.

3-1 Haaland (2) Foden

Come on City!!

Gundo as DM and Rico in his normal position further forward.

Gundogan as DM would be a disaster, he is far too off the pace now

And very remiss of me not to mention Rodders being paraded with the Ballon D'or trophy pre match.

A magnificent achievement and every City fan will be immensely proud to see this.

Rodri isn’t quick. You have to be clever in that position, more than anything. Let’s see what Pep does - probably Ederson there

I personally hope Gundog is nowhere near our starting XI. He has been poor of late.

I'd have Gundo there, he was fantastic when he stepped in for Fern the last dozen or so games back in 2019. I know he's older now but he's never been quick. He's a very clever footballer and for all I like Kova he's not disciplined like Rodri is, I think Gundo would be

I’d do the same and push Rico further forward. City put a video on the other day of Rico’s best bits this season - the amount of chances he creates for a defensive minded player is unbelievable.

Surely he's attack minded?

Rodri had over 20 GA’s last year. He’s not attack minded is he?

Gundo should be nowhere near the team going on how hes played since he came back....hes a fucking liability.

Not talking about Rodri, nothing to do with it.

Saying I don't think Rico is 'defensive minded'

You’re saying it because he attacks, as a defensive player. I’m proving my point.

Speaking of Rodri, I’ve just seen a picture of the set up for before today’s game. Jealous of anyone there - it looks like it’s going to be amazing for him.

Dias out today so I’m guessing Stones and Akanji will play at CB with Stones pushing into midfield. Atrocious weather forecast. I hope we don’t get any more injuries.

He's not played DM since he came back and form is temporary, class is permanent

The most goals and assists for Barca last season and was good for Germany in the summer. The guys just knackered.

Sometimes , my mate, I do worry about your ability to see what is in front of you. Rico, Gundo, McAtee.....

:)

Rico is an attack minded defender, whose defending sometimes suffers

McAtee has never stepped up when given opportunity

Gundo, for whatever reason, has been piss poor, which is not even debatable
