“Grealish had talent coached out of him”

According to Walcott (cunt) https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/arti ... lvk1ko.amp

I tend to agree.

Grealish had the chance to play Rico in last night and he’d have been clean through. It was obvious. Jack saw it, turned around and passed it backwards before putting his hand up to apologise to Rico.

He’s had every single bit of creativity beaten out of him.

We might be excited about this Egyptian lad coming - the same thing will happen to him.

Indeed, we brought him from Villa because he was special.
We've never seen his spark here. Never.

I agree also. I was happy for him last night, getting a goal and helping with the 2nd. He actually looked to improve us. Looking back at last night, how many times have we been undone by a team that plays as a team, is prepared to support each other, work and looks balanced.
Surely we have a defender that can play right back and a midfield player that can run.
Lewis at RB and OReilly in midfield would have been better starting. Akanji did one thing right last night. Christ we've waited all season for that! All our January signings could even have been slooted in to that team and done better. Expected a loss, so my expectations were met but what a way to lose. Another fuck up. When I was a kid City produced an embarrassment once or twice a season, Shrewsbury, Halifax etc. Now it is every other game. Our set up in defence is just bizarre, our mistakes are amateurish and our manager is behaving weird

I was at Halifax away in the mudbath and i was a lot more embarrassed than losing away in the CL to PSG.
Funnily enough when we played the equivalent to Halifax this season we won 8-0.
This is our worst season in years and we're still on for CL qualification in the league and I'd wager we'll still make the knock outs this season.

I actually agree with this.

When Grealish was at Villa he was one of their most creative players in the Team. He was good for winning shit loads of Penalties and dangerous set pieces that led to Goals.

When we signed him i thought we had signed one of the best and most exciting English players. I thought he would be a natural number 10 and replacement for KDB.I was expecting 9/10 penalties a Season, and shit load of dangerous set pieces.

Then Pep fucking destroyed him.

Playing him as a winger, after signing him from Villa based on his performances in the Middle.

We have watched week in week out as his his talent was managed out of him. His first thought became Ball retention/Pass back regardless of Goal scoring opportunities. Has had me screaming so many times. You know there is a good player inside him. Yet now he is like a fucking Robot " I MUST NOT LOSE THE BALL/PASS PASS PASS TO THE BACK/TO THE SIDE".

Fabio Capello said something critical about Pep that has stuck with me. Pep likes it to be all about him and his Genius, once you realise this it explains so much. That Bench against Lyon, It was Pep trying to show how clever he was winning that game with a Bench full of Stars. It backfired we lost a game we should have won and the Cup that should have been ours that year, same with the final against Chelsea. I think the same logic goes on with Pep and the players. Pep wants to always recreate the Wheel, "i will turn Grealish in to a Winger" Gvardiol in to a Striker " Rico Lewis fuck knows what. Just the way he is, has to feed his Ego, if the players are successful in unfamiliar positions he gets to say " it is all because of my inner genius". Shit manager or not Cappello was on to something.

Pep destroyed Grealish.

Im not totally disagreeing, but my two points to counter this sentiment.

1 - he wasn’t exactly prolific at Villa, we just more likely to have seen highlights rather than every si for minute he played there. His goal ratio is almost identical with us, so I’m not sure he was that much more attacking there with a lot more freedom. I couldn’t find assists so feel free to destroy my argument with 100’s of them.

2 - they play against low blocks soooooo much less than we do. On the rare opportunity we get to counter he’s done fine, less so in more recent times, but fine previously. We just get those opportunities so much less often than Villa did when he was there.

I’d say the same could go for the Bernardo I watched at Monaco vs the one who recycles the ball at City. Again worse recently as we’ve been worse as well.
Tracking back is overrated.

Jack had an absolutely outstanding role in the 7-0 ( or 7-1) drubbing of Liverpool. I think that earned him a lot of media respect.

He had a huge hand in our treble and I know which one I value more.

I’m sure if we wanted to we could find games he was amazing for us too, but I think we’ve allowed ourselves to think he was Zidane at Villa and we’ve let Pep turn him into Henderson, it’s just not accurate. He’s always been a player that has occasional attacking brilliance and long spells without any end product.

I don’t think that is the question mate - we’re not asking “has he been brilliant or not?”

We’re asking “has he stopped being creative?” The answer is yes, he has. Not even taking Villa into account, you watch him for England and he plays with loads more creativity and freedom.

Pep hasn't turned him into a henderson, jack is not a left winger and he doesn't have the balls to tell pep he doesn't want to play left wing. These players have it all too cushy, when all's going well.

He's getting money for old rope and not taking the initiative when he plays.

I guess my question is then, if he plays with more creativity but doesn’t score or assist anymore what’s the point?

To me Pep will let you go and score but not go and lose the ball. If Jack isn’t scoring any less but keeping the ball better I’m not sure I see the issue?

Perfect example is, as mentioned, playing Lewis in against PSG with a simple through ball, but instead turning and passing backwards.

Is “keeping the ball” limiting his creativity? Hes been here 4 years now so comparing him to what he did at Villa shouldn’t really be a thing - he should have e developed under a world class coach and miles betted team and those stats should be loads better with us than with Villa.
