Always wondered: our club doesn't have the rights of all their home games at least, not all the games, let's say? Couldn't we show coverage on our site for a fee?

I would gladly pay and watch it our site rather than give money to Sky, BBC, local shit that are biased.

I think 'exclusivity rights' between the FA/PL and the broadcasters for the competitions (rather than the individual matches) prevent that from happening within the UK, but not for broadcasts outside the UK. So, theoretically, we might be able to show League Cup games on the website in a pay-per-view format for non-UK IP addresses. Someone else on here probably knows more about the ins-and-outs of it, though.

Yeah, because I was thinking, in at the end, we own the right of our own games. But yeah, the exclusivity also might be an issue and I reckon the technology.
Missed it, but heard it was a fiasco when Netflix showed the Tyson fight vs that youtuber.

100% those rights will be tied up tighter than a duck's wotsit.

Besides I'm in a sulk with our club media for joining in with the national media conspiracy in sending me completely unwanted notifications on the women's team, which does not interest me too much.

There seems no facility to select which teams you want. Just like SKY and BBC, who bombard us with sensational headlines which masquerade as being 'real', but turn out to be about women's football

I don't necessarily want to denigrate the women's game, but this is deliberately underhand and I don't want it, thanks

The League Cup rights haven't been sold 'in full' to this region for quite a while. 15 years ago, you got 2 or 3 games from each round, then from around the time Mancini took over, a token (all-Prem) game from each round, plus one leg of each semi and the final. Now I think they just show the final, and it's been that way for around a decade.

As far as I understand, the FA or PL negotiates directly with broadcasters, but it might sell rights to a region to a consortium/third party, who then make deals with individual broadcasters. If it sells directly, clubs could buy the rights themselves, I suppose, but in all honesty it's probably not worth the hassle. And there's also a potential headache if two clubs buy the rights to their own games and they're drawn against one another.
