Pep seems to prefer high and wide full backs than playing Savinho and Doku at least for the moment. That does leaves us exposed to the ball over the top though. Gvardiol and Dias have to provide cover or maybe Nico G does. Our midfield patterns were excellent at times and we fought and usually won the 50 50s which makes such a difference. No doubt Everton will provide a tough tackling challenge next week. As for Kevin he can’t play like that twice a week but I’m slightly surprised à deal couldnt have been done to give him another year on reduced pay obviously.

He just needs a fucking real RB and a real fucking LB
Once that’s done and dusted then we can start playing real football .

Remember how many assists Kevin missed by feeding Jesus and Sterling ( the latter in his last couple of years for the Club).

That turned out differently to how I saw it this morning. Nunes reward for a half decent job at rhe swamp was to be benched?! Can only think pep thought Rico would be better with McAtee and the little interchanges. Terrible defending again for their first and shite from Ederson for the second but Kev dragged us back into it and we got our tails up. Second half palace faded straight away and we played some nice stuff. O'Reilly doing a decent job at lb but lets make sure we buy one this year and use O'Reilly in the middle. Got to be happy after that result.

Everyone around me at the ground couldn't believe the line up( nobody calling for his head though) and then went started well but conceded 2 soft goals and thought we were 3 down but that offside 3rd was the turning point as Kev then took control, Gundo was loads better, Gonzales was good, Kova always looking to make something happen. Marmoush is great, love his pressing and the way he drives forward McAtee should have had at least a hat trick but at least he gets in the position and took his goal superbly. They'd not lost away since October, great result

The atmosphere was brilliant today as soon as we realised the lads were going to make a fight of it.

Just watched the highlights.

Great goals.

I feel like Pep pushes Rico up too far and he’s not quick enough to get back into position. He seems like an attacking midfielder at times, and we’ve seen that first goal of theirs before where he’s not been able to get back.

He definitely needs to play o’Reilly further forward. He’s not a defender - he needs to play in his actual position where he’s been best for us.

I love Omar.

O'Reilly is a midfielder - and an attacking midfielder at that - by trade so of course PeP plays him anywhere but.

I must be the only one on here who really likes O’reilly at LB. He’s which and strong and can cross a ball. I’d pep works on him the way he has lesser players he could be ace and I like Gvardiol as a CB option too.

Felt a bit like the City of old this one, almost offended that a team took the game to us and we slapped them for it.

I don't know why people worry about players becoming left or right backs when apparently they are midfielders or attackers. I had a friend in our team when young who was great on the left wing , turned down mercer and allison at City to play elsewhere and nailed his career as a left back at one of the top first division clubs .

Exactly, almost all talented players are 9’s and 10’s as kids and some go right up until the forges of professional football before they become a defender.

Watched the highlights of the game and they waxed lyrical about kev. However at the game I would have given it to Omar, he was such a livewire, he was making runs all afternoon, a constant threat and worked the defenders tirelessly. Lad is a bargain.

Probably the silliest things I’ve seen on here.

“Why worry, I had a mate that ended up as a left back”

KIDS might start out as attackers and drop back to defenders…when they’re KIDS. “Almost all talented” players don’t go all the way through the academy as an attacker and then drop to RB or LB. That’s just ridiculous. The odd one might do.

O’Reilly’s talents are clearly at the attacking end of the pitch, not near our own box.

Marmoush was great but had he scored the 2 sitters Kev set up for him he'd have had a hat trick and there'd have been no argument about MOTM

We could have scored 7 or 8. Marmoush should have had a penalty for being put off on the one on one. McAtee missed a sitter header and then blazed over when very well placed in the second half. Kevin missed a very good chance late in the first half blazing over.

McAtee also made a mess of a glorious chance which he passed back to their goalie instead of leathering it past him before they even got a sniff going forward.

Although he did cock up twice in the scond half he redeemed himself with setting up one and scoring finally.

Kdb , until the free kick was running around like a headless chicken.

Marmoush was the livewire that got the free kick for Kdb too and indeed should have had a penalty.

yep he did indeed, but pretty much nothing else until around the time of the free kick, not all his fault though because he was up there where normally the Norwegian trolls.
