Joke decision at first glance but the replays do seem to show Rico purposefully leaving his foot aimed at a naughty angle.

That's the daftest red I've ever seen. Rico had cleared it before the other guy dived in and got himself injured. Looked like Rico caught him with his hand to me.

Watched it with three different angles and his boot doesn't touch his face. Boot is barely off the floor - their player arrived late so if anything he should be getting a yellow.

No wonder these south American refs get fans running on the pitch twating them

Thought Foden looked a lot sharper. Rodri obviously rusty. ( i winced every time he's tackled!) Cherki off to a nervous start, tried to be too fancy i think, got caught a few times, the ref wasn't giving much to us.
Wrestling and grappling a joke, and finally i thought Haaland had a superb chance for a goal but hit the keeper. Thought he could have gone round him and side footed the ball into the net.
Finally back in the studio, Jon Obi Mikel you are a cunt. No a red card and not deliberate . That was something you did when you played

Think about the movement. Rico swipes in to win and clear the ball, he knows the wydad player is going to be late so unnaturally Rico swings his leg backwards. Probably two fold reason, protect himself but also leave a bit on the wydad player. Unfortunately for Rico, he's risen his foot rather a bit too much and that's clocked your man in the jaw.

Not a nice sending off to receive, bit of a pisser. But it comes down under the "wreckless endangerment" rule. I don't think Rico intended to kick him in the face, but I do reckon he's intended to stick something on him, just ended up worse than planned and Rico unfortunately needs to take his licks for it.

I don't think we could ever prove he's tried to leave one on the player. If it was Mane, then yeah absolutely. But he's got no previous and seems like a decent lad. He's been doing kickboxing since 3 years old - if he wanted to take the lads head off he could.

I think the other lad was late, clearly because Rico won the ball and the other player slid after.

He tried to bend his leg to cushion the impact but ended up catching him. Not deliberate but must have fucking hurt IF the contact was with the face (haven’t seen a definitive angle). He clearly knew he’d fucked up; rolling round holding his knee like that

Yeah, the more I see it, the more I think Rico has gone to cushion the blow rather than stick one on him. It's just gone awry and clocked him in the face. Shit sending off, accidental but I can sympathise with the argument of wreckless unfortunately. It is what it is.

Rjenders looks quality. Doku and Foden both lively.

We’re still too slow in transition but with a very young back 4 and two debutants I’ll not be too critical game one. Still played at a friendly pace too.
Tracking back is overrated.

Solid enough start. Wasn’t exactly poetry in motion was it ! , but given we had some fresh faces out there and it’s our debut in this comp, I’ll take the 2-0.
That said, if Pep keeps gobbing his spit on the touchline like that, we’re gonna need a mop and a priest. Someone needs to have a word , or hand him a fucking tissue and then send him a memo for good measure !!

Disgusting !

Totally agree with this, his spitting, and I’ve commented on this before, has to stop it’s bloody ridiculous and disgusting behaviour.

Juve won 5-0. Might go down to GD considering it's likely that second place in our group will face Real Madrid. We should have took them to the cleaners.

Normal hair Foden looked really good.
I think we might see him shine again this season.
