Yeah, the Gold Cup is being played in the USA at the same time in the same country (18,200 went to watch Panama v. Guadeloupe the other day), and they have to 'maximize global viewership', meaning games are played at completely odd times.

Looks like it's highlights in the morning then for me

At least the Juve game is 8pm.

I think the WC will have packed stadiums, the thing is fans understand this competition is FIFA milking it.
Simple as that.

Correct

2am KO means virtually no one will watch it in the UK

I was 7, but I recall most of the games at WC94 were during the daytime, in the heat, to be in favour of European broadcasters.
But in this day and age, when you can see every possible game on you phone, most of the games will pe rewatched the second day.

Back then over half the teams were from Europe (13 of 24), and only 4 from Asia + Africa. This time round, it's 16 out of 48 from Europe, plus 17 (or more, depending on playoffs) from Africa and Asia. Also, advertising is more 'global' now, so broadcasters from specific regions are less of a concern: Why try to advertise some trainers or gambling website to Lithuanians, when you can advertise them to India, South Korea or China?

About watching the next day, I'm genuinely curious: How much of a 'thing' is this for people? It's rare I'll watch a full game as a replay if I already know the score, and with the internet these days it's almost impossible to not know the score of a big match before watching the replay (I think the last WC final's score popped up as an illustration on the Google homepage before you even typed anything).

I’ve tried digging into the TV viewing figures for the FIFA Club World Cup, but beyond the UK—where one of Chelsea’s matches pulled around 1.4 million viewers—there’s very little reliable data out there.

No official figures have been released for the U.S., Latin America, or Asia, despite the tournament being broadcast across major platforms like TNT Sports, TelevisaUnivision, and streamed for free on DAZN in some regions.

If anyone has concrete viewership numbers from other countries or networks, especially from markets like Brazil, Mexico, or Japan (where interest in this competition tends to be strong), it’d be great to see them.

It’s surprising how little transparency there is on global audience stats, considering FIFA’s push to elevate the Club World Cup’s profile - maybe the figures are too poor and embarrassing ?

For global viewership figures, you'll have to wait until all countries have collated their numbers. This is done daily, weekly or even less often, depending on the place. I have no idea how the DAZN figures will be combined with these. And of course, it'll be very hard for any kind of communications regulator to independently verify those DAZN figures (although I'm guessing advertisers will want some kind of assurance that adverts are reaching a sufficient viewership to justify paying for them).

For the US, I've got the following:
Inter Miami v. Al Ahly: 371k viewers on TBS (English), plus 230k on the TelevisaUnivision (Spanish) broadcast.
Source: https://programminginsider.com/saturday ... ba-on-abc/

Programminginsider is generally the 'go to' source for viewership numbers for the USA. Apart from that one (well, technically two) entry, the Club World Cup hasn't make it into the ratings guide for any demographic, timeslot, channel, etc.

Speaking for myself, I usually rewatch our games if they are special like QPR or Madrid, or enjoy when the red scouse get a proper beating, but just the highlights.

I'll just watch the highlights. Caught my daughter watching the full City - Inter CL final game the other day - absolutely psycho behaviour
