The club appealed however;

Manchester City defender Rico Lewis has been given a further two-match ban for his red card in their Club World Cup opener against Wydad Casablanca.

It was as clear a red card as you will ever see, he impetuously lifted his foot to hurt the other player, lucky he didn’t. Sorry Rico we shouldn’t have attempted to appeal that.

It really wasn't - hence the club appealed it

Agreed. Rico got the ball cleanly and the other guy was so late he ended up in the follow through

If the other guy hadn't slid in late there would have been no contact at all. The other guy mistimed it totally and caught Rico on the leg. Then pretended to get hit in the face, when one angle showed that wasn't the case at all.

It was a good initial tackle, Rico won the ball. He then lifted his foot unnecessarily and it could have been much worse, but it was dangerous play and deffo a red card for me.
